Full Job Description

Job description:

The Clinical Department Sexuality Support Professional creates educational and treatment-based plans with clients to meet their unique needs for knowledge, skills, and safety. This person is tasked with creating tools and strategies to education teams to provide ongoing support in respectful and affirming ways. Staff may also be asked to educate and support intellectually disabled and/or Autistic parents or those considering becoming parents.

Essential Functions:

· Develop trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive, holistic, and systemically-minded plans, trainings, and clinical coaching strategies focusing on the goals of each client and the support needs of the team.

· Ascribes to the philosophy of trauma-informed & healing centered strategies and approaches that go far beyond basic positive approaches mentality.

· Knowledge in the use of affirming and trauma-informed assessment scales and the concepts of subjective and objective data collection strategies to inform plans and intervention development.

· Knowledge in research techniques to explore possibilities beyond that which is considered “best practice” but meets the needs of many clients and their teams to effectively support them in a variety of environments. Must be familiar with newest sexuality research and education.

· Communicate with team members regularly and respond to any promised follow-up request within a timely manner as trust is earned, not expected in the clinical world.

· Facilitate team meetings including trainings to make sure that everyone is following the plans as intended so the client feels supported by the entire team.

· Coordinate with physical and mental health professionals including completion of team review forms, assessing for polypharmacy, and identifying wellness initiatives to support the bio-psycho-social aspects of human sexuality.

· Organize and schedule time commitments to meet demands of the job

· Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the department

· Comply with Federal, State, county and District policies, regulations and/or procedures

· Meet with Director, Clinical Coordinator, and/or Senior Administrative Assistant as needed for highest level of service delivery

· Communication regarding your reliable transportation

· Copy of valid car insurance

· Copies of State, Child Abuse, & Federal clearances (within 1 year of application)

· Certifications from ODP/State mandated trainings online (6400 orientation as well as entire ODP-approved FBA & PBS course); all free online

· Proof of state mandated liability insurance - coverage parameters given after interview

· Any new state, county, or agency requirements as necessary

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Core Competencies:

· Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: analyzing data; effective listening; facilitating meetings; observational skills; planning; problem solving; record keeping; training; and office practices

· Perform multiple technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions.

· Knowledge and demonstration of DEBI/JEDI/cultural humility and trauma-informed practices.

· Intensive training in human sexuality topics with some experience in disability-affirming sexuality education and support.

Physical Demands:

· Be capable of using one’s body in a variety of postures and positions for varied periods of time (kneeling, crouching, sitting, standing, reaching, walking quickly, reacting quickly on one’s feet) while working.

· Be capable of visual and auditory scanning of the work environment to monitor the facility to ensure safe and effective office operations.

· Willingness to wear or travel with extra clothing, shoes, or other adaptations based on the needs for safety with certain clients.

Working Conditions:

· Mild to moderate noise level.

· Travel between work sites or into the community as required

· Situations may occur where a clinician may need to pivot their body out of the way of a person in a mental health crisis.

· Clients may have a body-part specific fetish that requires a change in what someone wears when visiting that client for safety.

Master’s degree in Human Sexuality, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or other equivalent degree required
Degree, minor, certification, or intensive training program in human sexuality required

Experience:

Working with intellectually disabled and/or Autistic individuals for 2 years required
Clinical Sexuality work: 1 year required
Working with clients with sex offense histories preferred

Work Location: In person; multiple locations
