Job Overview

State Wide Specialty Care Medical Corp. is a growing multi-specialty medical practice specializing in California Workers’ Compensation and Personal Injury care. We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrist to join our expanding team.

This position offers the opportunity to provide psychiatric evaluation, treatment, and medication management for injured workers experiencing psychological and emotional conditions related to industrial injuries.

The ideal candidate will have experience treating patients with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, sleep disturbances, and psychosocial factors that may impact functional recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside an integrated healthcare team consisting of physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, acupuncturists, pain management specialists, and orthopedic providers.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
Diagnose and treat mental health conditions arising from or aggravated by work-related injuries
Provide medication management and psychiatric treatment for injured workers
Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and functional outcomes
Evaluate and treat depression, anxiety, PTSD, adjustment disorders, chronic pain syndromes, sleep disorders, and stress-related conditions
Provide in-person and telehealth psychiatric services
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation
Prepare treatment reports, progress reports, and narrative reports as required for Workers’ Compensation cases
Coordinate care with treating physicians, chiropractors, therapists, nurse case managers, attorneys, and insurance adjusters when appropriate
Participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and treatment planning discussions
Educate patients regarding coping strategies, medication compliance, stress management, and recovery expectations
Assess work capacity and provide recommendations regarding functional limitations when appropriate

Medical-Legal Responsibilities (Preferred)

Perform psychiatric medical-legal evaluations for denied claims and compensability disputes
Review medical records and prepare comprehensive medical-legal reports
Assess causation, apportionment, diagnosis, impairment, and future medical treatment needs
Provide expert opinions regarding psychiatric injury claims within the California Workers’ Compensation system
Participate in telemedicine medical-legal evaluations when appropriate

QualificationsRequired

Active California Medical License (MD or DO)
Completion of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
DEA Registration and ability to prescribe medications in California
Strong diagnostic, assessment, and treatment skills
Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred

Experience in Workers’ Compensation, Personal Injury, Disability Evaluation, or Occupational Medicine
Experience treating chronic pain patients and trauma-related conditions
Familiarity with California Workers’ Compensation regulations and reporting requirements
Experience performing psychiatric impairment evaluations and medical-legal assessments
Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) certification preferred but not required
Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
