Full Job Description

,This is a rare opportunity to manage a premier waterfront-area estate in one of Southern California’s most desirable locations.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized House Manager to oversee the daily operations of a luxury private residence in Newport Beach. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the home runs seamlessly and efficiently at the highest standards of excellence. The ideal candidate has a background in luxury hotel management, estate management, or high-end private service and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.

The House Manager will directly supervise a full-time staff and serve as the primary point of contact for all household matters, maintaining the highest levels of discretion, professionalism, and service.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and optimize all aspects of daily household operations, including cleaning, maintenance, inventory management, vendor coordination, and scheduling.
Directly supervise, train, schedule, and manage a team of housekeepers, groundsmen, and personal assistants. Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure consistent high performance.
Manage preventative maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the residence and grounds. Coordinate with gardeners, pool technicians, contractors, and other service providers.
Oversee household inventory of supplies, linens, groceries, cleaning products, etc. and maintain appropriate stock levels while controlling costs.
Source, negotiate with, and manage relationships with high-quality vendors and service providers.
Coordinate in-house events, guest stays, and special requests. Ensure white-glove service standards for the family and their guests.
Assist with household budgeting, expense tracking, and record-keeping. Handle invoices, payments, and financial reporting as needed.
Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and oversee security protocols for the property.
Develop and manage emergency response plans and ensure staff readiness for any situation.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum 5+ years of proven experience as a House Manager, Estate Manager, or in a similar leadership role in luxury hotels, private estates, or ultra-high-net-worth households. Luxury hotel or prior high-end house management experience is mandatory.
Demonstrated success in managing and developing a team of 5 or more staff members.
Strong understanding of luxury home systems (smart home technology, HVAC, AV, security, pools/spas, etc.).
Exceptional project management, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities. Meticulous attention to detail.
Polished, discreet, and client-service oriented with the ability to anticipate needs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite, household management software, and basic accounting tools.
Flexible schedule with the ability to be on-call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing large luxury properties (8,000+ sq. ft.).
Knowledge of high-end vendors and service providers in the Orange County / Los Angeles areas.
Formal training or certification in hospitality or estate management.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must pass comprehensive background checks, reference checks, and NDAs.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary commensurate with experience range: $120,000 – $150,000+ DOE

Pay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
