Full Job Description

The General Manager provides overall leadership for Bredan Mechanical’s operations, financial performance, and customer relationships, with a primary focus on commercial and institutional projects and service. This role is accountable for the brand P&L, day-to-day operations, and the development of a high-performing team that delivers safe, high-quality mechanical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Own the business unit P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue and EBITDA growth, gross margin, and operating expense control.
Oversee all aspects of commercial HVAC operations, including project execution, service delivery, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet customer commitments and quality standards.
Partner with project managers, field supervisors, and service leadership to ensure jobs are planned, staffed, and executed efficiently, with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
Drive business development and account management efforts by supporting key customer relationships in industrial, commercial, institutional, and municipal segments, and by identifying opportunities for add-on and repeat work.
Establish and monitor KPIs for safety, quality, productivity, backlog, change order performance, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction; review results regularly and implement improvement actions.
Recruit, develop, and coach office and field leaders, including project managers, foremen, and service leaders; ensure effective performance management, training, and succession planning.
Ensure strong collaboration between estimating, project management, service, and administration to support accurate job costing, timely billing, and healthy cash flow.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to support competitive pricing, reliable delivery, and high-quality project outcomes.
Champion a culture of safety, professionalism, and customer focus in line with Bredan Mechanical’s reputation for dependable, high-quality HVAC work.

Qualifications

7+ years of progressive experience in HVAC or mechanical contracting, with substantial exposure to commercial and institutional projects and/or service operations.
Proven experience managing a department with full or significant P&L responsibility.
Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, project delivery, and service operations; ability to support both construction and service sides of the business.
Demonstrated leadership ability managing cross-functional teams, including office staff and field personnel.
Solid financial acumen and comfort using job-cost and KPI reporting to drive decisions.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with customers, general contractors, engineers, and internal teams.
Valid Master HVAC license preferred
