Position Summary
Achievement Pediatric Therapies is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Speech-Language Pathologist to join our pediatric therapy team. The SLP will evaluate and treat children with speech, language, communication, feeding, and swallowing needs while working collaboratively with families, caregivers, educators, and other healthcare professionals.
Our multidisciplinary clinic provides occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral health services in a supportive and family-centered environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical judgment, effective communication, professionalism, and a commitment to helping children reach their fullest potential.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive speech, language, communication, feeding, and swallowing evaluations within the SLP’s scope of practice.
- Develop individualized, functional, and measurable plans of care based on evaluation results and the child’s specific needs.
- Provide evidence-based treatment for articulation, phonological, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, social communication, augmentative and alternative communication, and feeding or swallowing concerns.
- Establish appropriate short-term and long-term goals.
- Educate parents and caregivers regarding treatment strategies, home programs, progress, and recommendations.
- Complete evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, recertifications, discharge summaries, and other required documentation accurately and within established deadlines.
- Maintain an appropriate caseload and meet the clinic’s productivity and scheduling expectations.
- Obtain required physician orders, authorizations, and supporting documentation in coordination with administrative staff.
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, mental health professionals, physicians, educators, and other members of the child’s care team.
- Participate in team meetings, care coordination, staff training, and professional development activities.
- Maintain treatment areas, therapy materials, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
- Follow all clinic policies, professional standards, payer requirements, and state and federal regulations.
- Protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- Report safety concerns, incidents, suspected abuse or neglect, and changes in a patient’s condition according to clinic policy and applicable law.
- Provide supervision to Speech-Language Pathology Assistants or students when assigned and when permitted by licensure and competency.
- Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited program.
- Current or eligible Alabama license as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association preferred.
- Clinical Fellows who meet applicable supervision and licensure requirements may be considered.
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support certification, or willingness to obtain certification within the required time frame.
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks and screenings.
- Knowledge of pediatric speech, language, communication, and feeding development.
- Ability to communicate professionally with children, families, coworkers, referral sources, and outside providers.
- Ability to complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to use electronic medical record and communication systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous pediatric outpatient, school-based, early intervention, or clinical experience.
- Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorder, developmental delays, neurological conditions, genetic disorders, sensory differences, and complex communication needs.
- Experience with augmentative and alternative communication systems.
- Experience evaluating and treating pediatric feeding or swallowing concerns.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary pediatric team.

Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to:
- Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and move throughout the clinic.
- Transition between the floor and standing positions while working with children.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull therapy materials and equipment.
- Assist children with positioning and mobility when clinically appropriate and properly trained.
- Tolerate typical pediatric clinic noise, movement, and activity.
- Visually observe children and hear verbal communication during evaluations and treatment sessions.
- Perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
This position is performed primarily in a pediatric outpatient clinic. The SLP may work with children who demonstrate behavioral, sensory, emotional, communication, or physical challenges. The employee may occasionally be exposed to bodily fluids, illness, aggressive behaviors, biting, scratching, hitting, or other safety risks associated with providing pediatric healthcare services. Appropriate training, infection-control procedures, and clinic safety policies must be followed.

Work Schedule
Achievement Pediatric Therapies is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Employee schedules will be assigned within these operating hours based on patient needs, caseload requirements, and clinic staffing. The clinic is closed on Fridays.
Pay: From $38.00 per hour
