Full Job Description

The Controller is responsible for leading all accounting operations for the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards. As a key member of the finance leadership team, this role partners with Operation, other leaders to provide financial insights that support operational performance and strategic decision-making. The Controller oversees a lean accounting team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and Payroll, and is responsible for the month-end and year-end close processes, external audits, working capital management, revenue recognition, and continuous improvement of accounting processes to support a growing business.

Responsibilities:

Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory/Cost Accounting, and Payroll, while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Oversee all accounting operations and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, journal entry review, and reporting deadlines.
Ensure compliance with revenue recognition standards, project accounting requirements, and inventory and cost accounting practices.
Maintain a strong internal control environment by developing, monitoring, and improving accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls.
Lead internal and external audit activities and coordinate responses to auditors, regulatory agencies, and corporate reporting requirements.
Oversee working capital performance by monitoring accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, and cash management while partnering with Finance on forecasting and liquidity planning.
Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, including sales and use tax, payroll tax, and other required financial filings.
Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and effective use of financial systems to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
Partner closely with Operations, Sales, Supply Chain, HR, and Finance leadership to provide financial guidance, improve business performance, and support strategic decision-making.
Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership experience
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience leading month-end and year-end close processes, external audits, and financial statement preparation.
Proficiency with Quickbooks, Paychex, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
