Full Job Description

A stable, locally owned company in the Spring, TX area is seeking an experienced Full-Charge Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis.

This is a hands-on accounting role supporting a small, close-knit office environment. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals, including AR, AP, reconciliations, journal entries, sales tax reporting, ACH/wire payments, and month-end close support. This person will work directly with ownership and will be the primary day-to-day accounting resource for the business.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys small-company accounting, wants stability, and prefers a role where their work is visible and valued.

Responsibilities

Process ACH transfers, wire payments, credit card transactions, and customer payments.
Apply customer payments accurately and monitor outstanding balances.
Communicate with customers regarding billing, payment status, and account issues.
Retrieve, enter, and route vendor invoices through NetSuite.
Prepare weekly vendor bills and scheduled payables for management review.
Prepare check, ACH, and wire payments.
Process refunds and credit memos.
Prepare daily bank deposits.
Reconcile ACH, wire, and bank activity to ensure accurate posting.
Monitor customer/vendor portals for invoices, purchase orders, and payment activity.
Communicate with Sales, Service, and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies.
Prepare and file Texas Sales & Use Tax reports.
Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
Support NetSuite accounting processes and ongoing system improvements.
Provide light oversight or direction to administrative support staff as needed.
Work with outside CPA as needed for accounting, tax, and reporting support.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Strong understanding of debits/credits, AR, AP, general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Experience with month-end close support.
Experience processing ACH transfers, wires, vendor payments, and customer payments.
Sales tax reporting experience preferred; Texas sales tax experience is a plus.
Proficiency with accounting software; NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
ERP experience required if NetSuite experience is not present.
Strong Excel skills, including formulas and spreadsheet work.
Pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP are a plus.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with financial data.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working independently in a small-office environment.
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, industrial equipment, machinery, or service-related industries is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

NetSuite experience.
Experience with Ariba, Clover, or similar payment/procurement portals.
Background in a small-to-mid-size company environment.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, but not required.
Prior experience serving as the primary accounting/bookkeeping contact for a business.
