Join Our Team at Jane and the Lion Bakehouse: Baker/Pastry Team Opportunity

Do you find joy in crafting thoughtful food, working with the seasons, and being part of a community-driven space? At Jane and the Lion Bakehouse in Houston, TX, we’re looking for a passionate and skilled Baker/Pastry Cook to join our growing team.

We’re a seasonal, ingredient-driven bakehouse rooted in thoughtful hospitality, naturally fermented breads, and food made from scratch. If you’re someone who loves the craft of baking, values quality ingredients, and enjoys working with your hands, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

What You'll Do

As a member of our Baker/Pastry Team, you’ll play a key role in creating the baked goods that define Jane and the Lion Bakehouse. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the daily production of naturally fermented breads, pastries, and baked goods.
Assisting with dough mixing, shaping, baking, and finishing.
Preparing products for the Bakehouse and weekly farmers markets.
Following recipes, production schedules, and quality standards to ensure consistency.
Maintaining food safety and sanitation practices.
Keeping workstations clean, organized, and stocked.
Supporting seasonal menu development and special projects as needed.
Collaborating closely with the culinary and bakehouse teams.

What We're Looking For

We’re seeking someone with a passion for baking and a commitment to quality. Here’s what we’re looking for in a candidate:

At least 1 year of bakery, pastry, or professional kitchen experience.
A love for working with quality, seasonal ingredients.
Strong attention to detail and consistency in your work.
Dependable, organized, and a great team player.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Ability to lift, carry, and stand for extended periods.
Interest in local food systems, seasonality, and community-centered businesses.
Weekend availability is required.
