Field Operations Manager

If you're drawn to urbanism — how cities get planned, funded, and brought to life — there are few better front-row seats. You'll watch major capital projects like our bike trail and infrastructure planning move from concept to reality, and you'll have a hand in them. You'll learn how local government actually works from the inside, and build real relationships with city officials, real estate developers, architects, planners, and the people shaping Dallas. For someone who loves both big-picture vision and hands-on work, it's a rare combination — and an unusually fast way to learn how a city gets built.

As Field Operations Manager, you're out in the district every day — spotting what needs fixing, what could be better, and what could be great — and then making it happen. You'll lead crews, run projects, and partner with the City to keep Midtown clean, safe, and beautiful. But that's the floor, not the ceiling. This role comes with real creative freedom: you identify the opportunities, shape the projects, and see them through from a rough idea to something thousands of people use and enjoy.

Position Summary

The Field Operations Manager oversees all field-based maintenance and beautification activities within the district — supervising crews, identifying and coordinating projects, managing public space maintenance contracts, and ensuring timely resolution of 311 service issues. Just as importantly, this person is the district's eyes on the ground and a driver of new ideas: the work is essential to keeping our public spaces safe, clean, and beautiful, and to making them better over time.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the district daily to spot maintenance needs, safety issues, and beautification opportunities — and turn what you notice into action.
Supervise and coordinate field crews performing landscaping, litter removal, graffiti cleanup, minor repairs, and general maintenance.
Manage maintenance contracts with the City and other vendors for the public right-of-way (ROW), parks, and public facilities.
Identify, scope, and help guide improvement projects from idea to completion.
Monitor and resolve issues reported through the PID's internal 311 system.
Interface with City departments to address issues and move projects forward.
Oversee recurring work like trash removal, weed control, graffiti abatement, and seasonal landscaping.
Maintain records of maintenance work, site inspections, equipment use, and material inventory.
Ensure safety compliance and perform inspections of facilities and equipment.

Qualifications

College educated.
Proficient in Excel and comfortable learning our custom CRM.
Proven ability to lead and coordinate field operations independently.
Familiarity with public infrastructure maintenance, surface materials, and safety procedures.
Comfortable with digital tools for mapping, reporting, and communication.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Able to perform moderate to heavy physical labor in varying weather conditions.

Licenses & Requirements

Valid Driver's License.
Access to a reliable truck or car (mileage reimbursed at the federal rate).
Vehicle insurance.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
