Full Job Description

Join Our Compassionate Healthcare Team!

We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our growing Interventional Pain Management practice. The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong communication skills, computer proficiency, and a commitment to exceptional patient care are essential.

In this role, you will work closely with our providers and clinical staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate care while supporting patients throughout their treatment journey in both the clinic and outpatient procedure setting.

Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA regulations.
Answer and triage patient phone calls.
Room patients and prepare them for examination.
Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and other patient information.
Accurately enter patient information into the electronic medical record (EMR).
Communicate changes in patient condition to providers promptly.
Prepare, clean, and stock exam rooms and clinical supply areas.
Assist with first-aid emergencies as needed.
Verify insurance authorizations for medications, imaging, and procedures.
Review laboratory reports and communicate results and follow-up instructions to patients.
Coordinate referrals, imaging orders, and specialty appointments.
Schedule procedures and assist providers with care coordination.
Communicate with patients professionally, compassionately, and respectfully.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology.

Procedure Room Responsibilities

Prepare patients for outpatient procedures.
Verify completion of pre-admission testing, imaging, and required medical clearances.
Obtain surgical and anesthesia consents.
Assess vital signs and laboratory results, reporting any abnormalities to the physician and anesthesia team.
Perform venipuncture, process blood specimens, and prepare platelet-rich plasma (PRP) when applicable.
Assist physicians during procedures as needed.
Receive and monitor patients during post-anesthesia recovery.
Monitor airway, vital signs, pain levels, RASS scores, and procedural sites, reporting any concerns immediately.
Administer PRN medications according to physician orders and established protocols (within scope of practice).
Remove IV catheters and apply appropriate dressings.
Provide discharge education, review postoperative instructions, and confirm follow-up appointments.
Safely assist patients to their transportation upon discharge.
Accurately document assessments, treatments, medications, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
Assist with emergency response situations, including Rapid Response events, following ACLS protocols when applicable.
Clean and disinfect patient care areas and prepare procedure rooms between cases according to infection control standards.

Qualifications

Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Previous experience in pain management, orthopedics, surgery, or another specialty practice is preferred.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Strong computer and EMR skills.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
Compassionate, dependable, and committed to providing exceptional patient care.
BLS certification required.
