Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Vice President of Human Resources will lead and direct the functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including overseeing HR staff, developing short and long-term HR strategies, collaborating with C-suite executives and aligning Human Resource strategies and objectives with operational objectives.

Job Classification: Exempt position. Starting salary base: Approximately $200,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for annual performance bonus and stock award.

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is indirectly responsible for leading managers and employees within the company.
This position supervises the company’s HR staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
Understand the key business drivers across the organization and influence leadership by relating these drivers to people strategies/priorities and identifying opportunities to deliver improved business performance.
Create project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and expectations for various stakeholders around workforce planning, talent management (e.g., 9-box reviews, succession planning), reward (e.g., salary administration, off-cycle reviews), and other HR processes.
Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of policy violations and/or misconduct, and terminations.
Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
Review and modify the company’s onboarding process.
Implement new policies and protocols to drive compliance in a multi-state operation.
Establish the corporate framework for performance management, including goal setting, appraisal processes, and recognition programs.
Oversee high risk employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to ensure compliance.
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Reviews digital solutions and optimizes technology and HRM platforms.
Develops and provides employment compliance training to managers and supervisors.
Shapes and drives company culture.
Leads employee initiatives to drive engagement.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

Work experience in the construction or contractor types of businesses and cultures.
Working knowledge of payroll systems.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Change Management leadership abilities.
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
A minimum of ten years of human resource management experience, including leadership experience.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP designation highly desired.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

Risk Management experience in workers’ compensation insurance claims management, licensing, and MSHA requirements.
Experience and general knowledge of Avetta and ISNetworld compliance platforms.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Master’s degree in human resources, labor relations or Masters of Business Administration.
Experience in designing and creating a high functioning human resource department.

Other Requirements:

This position involves some overnight travel – around 15 to 20 percent.
Demonstrated ability as a credible business partner, able to effectively work with all levels (employees to senior management).
Demonstrated ability to effectively balance and deliver multiple concurrent projects, events, and activities to achieve agreed results.

Pay: From $200,000.00 per year
