OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Facility/Location: Baylor Plano Heart Hospital - 1100 Allied Dr, Plano, 75093
Shift/Schedule: FT/Days - Tuesday - Saturday ( 8 hours per day)
Inpatient Acute Care
Prefer experience in acute care setting.

We are seeking a highly motivated Occupational Therapist to join our acute care team at Baylor Scott and White The Heart Hospital Plano. This role involves evaluating and treating patients recovering from cardiac surgeries, heart failure, and other cardiovascular conditions to improve their functional independence and quality of life. The ideal candidate will have experience in acute care and a passion for working with patients recovering from complex medical conditions.

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist 2 plans, organizes, and provides professional services in therapeutic programs. This includes evaluating and creating an occupational therapy plan for rehabilitation. They also have additional responsibilities beyond the Occupational Therapist 1 role.

Essential Functions of the Role

Evaluates, treats and monitors patient within the occupational therapy treatment plan. Modifies therapy program and goals.
Performs thorough and concise clinical documentation in a timely manner. Enters charges accurately. Knows about reimbursement related to practice setting.
Communicates effectively with patients, families, coworkers, and the medical care team. Provides education to patients, family, and staff.
Supervises ancillary staff, students and volunteers.
Advances clinical skills through ongoing education, literature review, and evidence-based practice. Dispense knowledge to develop colleagues' clinical skills. Adheres to organizational, national, and state regulatory guidelines.
Maintains awareness of system goals. Aligns personal goals and work activities to help or impact the system goals.
Performs regularly assigned duties or roles in addition to patient care. Duties are necessary for clinical, regulatory, or business needs. Additional roles include staff development, student clinical coordinator, quality improvement program head, team head, specialty program head, or other identified needs.

Must possess problem solving skills of the type and at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
Must have good communication skills. Be able to relate professionally and positively to patients, their family members, and facility staff.
Exhibits proven synergy and leadership skills with all levels of the healthcare team. Assures excellent customer service to patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
Possesses proficient computer knowledge; operates multiple computer systems and standard Rehabilitation equipment.
High attention to detail in fast paced and dynamic environment.
Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a high level of productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

Occupational Therapist (OT)

Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
