W-2 Private Practice | Multiple DFW Locations | Up to $14,000 per Month
Stanford Couples Counseling is seeking experienced, doctoral-level therapists to join our growing private-pay practice serving clients throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex.
We are intentionally expanding our doctoral-level clinical team and are looking for therapists who are passionate about couples therapy, committed to clinical excellence, and interested in becoming part of a genuinely collaborative professional community.
This is a W-2 employee position—not a 1099 contractor role—with the flexibility to begin part-time and grow into a full-time caseload.
About Stanford Couples Counseling
Stanford Couples Counseling is an established private-pay group practice specializing in couples and relationship therapy. We also serve individuals experiencing relational concerns, life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and other clinical needs.
Our mission is to serve therapists and clients alike with compassion, integrity, excellence, balance, and collaboration.
We believe therapists do their best work when they are supported professionally, compensated fairly, encouraged to maintain healthy boundaries, and surrounded by colleagues who care about the quality of their clinical work.
Our goal is to provide therapists with a high-quality work environment through exceptional support, benefits, professional development, and community while providing the greater DFW community with excellent clinical care, compassion, warmth, and respect.
Why therapists choose SCCW-2 employment rather than 1099 contracting
Unlike many private practices, Stanford Couples Counseling hires therapists as W-2 employees.
That means:
- Taxes are withheld automatically from your paycheck
- You do not have to calculate and submit quarterly estimated tax payments
- SCC pays the employer portion of applicable payroll taxes
- You may qualify for employer-sponsored benefits
- You receive the structure and convenience of employment without having to manage the administrative responsibilities of independent contracting
We want our therapists focused on providing excellent clinical care—not bookkeeping, tax estimates, and business administration.
Established private-pay referral stream
You do not have to build a practice from the ground up. SCC invests significantly in marketing, community visibility, search presence, and referral development.
Our administrative and leadership teams work to help therapists develop and maintain sustainable caseloads while allowing each clinician to determine the schedule and clinical workload that fits their professional and personal goals.
Comprehensive administrative support
Our full-time administrative team supports therapists with:
- New-client inquiries
- Scheduling
- Billing and payment collection
- Client communication
- Practice systems
- Office coordination
- General administrative needs
Our goal is to remove as much administrative burden as possible so therapists can focus primarily on their clients and clinical work.
Collaborative clinical environment
Private practice should not have to mean practicing in isolation.
SCC is intentionally collaborative and team-oriented. Our therapists have opportunities to consult with colleagues, discuss challenging cases, share resources, and learn from clinicians with different areas of expertise.
We are looking for therapists who value professional collaboration and want to contribute to a healthy, supportive clinical community.
Professional development and support
We want our therapists to continue developing both clinically and professionally.
Our leadership team includes a practice manager and clinical director who help therapists navigate the clinical, professional, and practical aspects of working successfully in a private-pay group practice.
Dr. Paul Stanford is committed to helping clinicians strengthen their clinical skills, professional judgment, private-practice effectiveness, and ability to build sustainable careers.
SCC also provides reimbursement for eligible continuing education expenses and professional license renewals.
Flexibility and work-life balance
Therapists have meaningful input into their schedules, caseload size, and office availability.
We place a strong emphasis on:
- Sustainable clinical workloads
- Healthy professional boundaries
- Therapist well-being
- Balance between work and personal life
- Long-term professional satisfaction
The position may begin part-time, with the opportunity to grow into full-time work based on the therapist’s goals, availability, and caseload development.
Position responsibilities
The therapist will:
- Provide high-quality psychotherapy to couples and individuals
- Maintain regular in-office availability at one or more SCC locations
- Provide virtual therapy when clinically appropriate
- Complete documentation and other clinical responsibilities in a timely and professional manner
- Communicate effectively with clients and administrative staff
- Participate constructively in SCC’s collaborative practice culture
- Maintain all applicable professional, ethical, and licensing requirements
- Contribute to a warm, respectful, and professional client experience
Required qualifications
Applicants must:
- Hold a doctoral degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy, counseling, social work, or another closely related behavioral-health field
- Hold an active, unrestricted Texas license as a psychologist, LMFT, LPC, or LCSW
- Have meaningful training and experience providing couples therapy
- Be willing to maintain consistent in-person availability
- Be willing and able to provide virtual therapy in addition to in-office services
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, professionalism, reliability, and interpersonal skills
- Be comfortable serving private-pay clients in a professional private-practice environment
- Value collaboration, feedback, and continual clinical growth
- Be available to build a consistent part-time or full-time caseload
- Be committed to building their primary private-practice work with Stanford Couples Counseling rather than maintaining employment with a directly competing private practice
Preferred qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- A PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, marriage and family therapy, counselor education, or a related field
- Advanced postgraduate training in couples or relationship therapy
- Experience working with high-conflict or clinically complex couples
- Experience in a private-pay private-practice setting
- Experience treating both couples and individuals
- Training in evidence-informed couples therapy models
- An established clinical specialty or area of expertise
- Experience providing telehealth services
- An interest in contributing to consultation, professional development, or practice initiatives
Our ideal candidate
The strongest candidates will be therapists who:
- Are genuinely passionate about couples and relationship therapy
- Care deeply about the quality of their clinical work
- Combine warmth and compassion with confidence and professionalism
- Want to continue growing rather than practicing on professional autopilot
- Enjoy learning from other experienced therapists
- Welcome thoughtful consultation and constructive feedback
- Communicate clearly and reliably
- Are comfortable working with discerning private-pay clients
- Want a long-term professional home rather than simply another place to see clients
- Believe that collaboration strengthens clinical care
- Value compassion, integrity, excellence, balance, and teamwork
In-person availability
A willingness to see clients in an SCC office is required.
Demand for in-person therapy remains strong, and we are specifically seeking clinicians who can provide reliable in-office availability at one or more of our DFW locations.
Therapists may also provide virtual services, but this is not a telehealth-only position.
Office placement will be discussed based on practice needs, therapist preference, available space, and geographic fit.
Compensation
Up to $14,000 per month, depending on caseload size, schedule, collected fees, and other applicable factors.
The position may be structured as part-time or full-time.
Because compensation is connected to clinical activity, actual monthly earnings will vary based on the therapist’s availability, number of completed sessions, caseload development, and average collected session fee.

Eligible employees may receive:
- Medical insurance
- Dental insurance
- Vision insurance
- Flexible scheduling
- Continuing education reimbursement
- Professional license-renewal reimbursement
- Professional development support

- Billing and payment-collection support
- Marketing and referral support

- Part-time
- Full-time growth opportunity
Work location
This is a hybrid clinical position that includes required in-person work at one or more Stanford Couples Counseling offices within the Dallas–Fort Worth area, along with the option to provide some services virtually.
We are intentionally selective in our hiring process. We are looking for clinicians who combine advanced training with warmth, professionalism, collaboration, and a genuine commitment to excellent client care.
If you are an experienced doctoral-level therapist who wants the autonomy of private practice without the administrative and tax burden of independent contracting, we would be glad to hear from you.
