Full Job Description

Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Occupational Therapist, where you will play a vital role in enhancing patients' independence and quality of life through personalized therapy interventions. You will assess, plan, and implement therapeutic strategies across diverse settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health environments. Your expertise will help individuals of all ages— from pediatrics to geriatrics— overcome challenges related to disabilities, injuries, or medical conditions. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ functional abilities, focusing on activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and cognitive skills.
Develop individualized care plans that align with patients’ goals and medical needs, ensuring effective progress tracking.
Assist patients with ADLs such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and toileting to promote independence.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physiotherapists, physicians, and educators—to coordinate holistic care strategies.
Provide therapy interventions for individuals with autism, disabilities, or neurological conditions across various settings like schools, clinics, or homes.
Support discharge planning by preparing patients and caregivers for ongoing therapy needs post-treatment.
Engage in case management activities to monitor patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
Contribute to early intervention programs for infants and young children to foster developmental milestones.
Participate in acute care and ICU environments to deliver specialized occupational therapy for critically ill patients.
Promote patient safety and comfort during inpatient stays or outpatient visits by applying physiology knowledge and medical terminology accurately.

Qualifications

Valid licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist in the relevant jurisdiction.
Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities across diverse settings such as inpatient units, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or schools.
Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology principles relevant to occupational therapy practices.
Experience assisting with ADLs and developing effective discharge plans for varied patient populations.
Familiarity with pediatric therapy including early intervention and school-based programs.
Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to interpret physician’s orders accurately.
Prior experience in acute care settings such as ICU or hospital wards is highly desirable.
