Position: Landscape Designer
Reports to: Branch Manager or Landscape Design Manager

Position Core Profile: The Landscape Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and developing landscape layouts and proposals that meet client specifications and enhance site aesthetics and functionality. This role collaborates closely with Account Managers to sell enhancement services and ensure that project designs are accurately represented and executed in the field. The Landscape Designer combines technical expertise, creativity, and strong communication skills to support internal teams and exceed customer expectations.
Differentiators:
Creative Design & Proposal Development: Produces detailed and visually compelling master plans, redesigns, annual color plans, entrance designs, and proposals for both residential and commercial clients.
Sales & Client Support: Works alongside Account Managers to attend client meetings, provide design consultation, and help close enhancement opportunities through professional presentation and collaboration.
Field Integration & Quality Control: Performs site visits, ensures field measurement accuracy, and oversees installation quality to ensure designs are executed as intended.
Technical Expertise: Reads and interprets scaled drawings, produces CAD-based or digital renderings, and ensures timely delivery of design packages.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Supports branch teams with estimating, sourcing, and operational coordination including material orders, Gantt maps, and recruitment efforts.
Accountabilities:
Design and Proposal Creation: Plan and create comprehensive landscape designs that align with client needs and project scopes (e.g., residential plans, enhancements, seasonal plantings, BB/mass bids); Utilize software tools (CAD, design software) and conduct field observations to ensure design accuracy and site compatibility; Ensure timely production and delivery of high-quality design packages and proposals.
Client Interaction and Sales Support: Collaborate with Account Managers to prepare for enhancement opportunities and client presentations; Attend client meetings as requested and perform site visits to gather design data and understand project requirements; Assist in translating client feedback into actionable design adjustments with a focus on solutions and professionalism.
Project Execution and Oversight: Provide quality control oversight (e.g., skoshing) to ensure installations align with approved designs; Answer plant-related and technical client questions during site visits; Support the coordination of hard goods, plant material orders, and rentals to meet job timelines.
Team Collaboration and Support: Assist Branch and Account Managers with complex designs and estimates for enhancements

Experience and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, Horticulture or related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience considered
Experience: 2-4 years of professional experience in landscape design, estimating or horticulture
Licensing/Certification: Valid state driver's license is preferred; Skills:
Planning & Organization: Manages time effectively, prioritizes multiple design requests, and ensures timely delivery of services
Quality & Detail-Oriented: Produces accurate, thorough work and embraces continuous improvement
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with clients and internal teams
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software and digital design tools
- Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to read scaled drawings, estimate dimensions, and perform area/volume calculations
