This position will be part of the Dean’s Office analyst team but serve as the primary resource and administrator for all academic personnel actions pertaining to members of the Academic Senate or Academic Federation, collective bargaining units, visiting titles and miscellaneous titles for an assigned group of departments within the School of Medicine. The incumbent will serve as the local AP expert conducting in-depth research on complex issues and problematic cases and recommend solutions. They are also required to work collaboratively with faculty and department staff to develop, monitor and submit complete and timely faculty packets for new academic appointments and faculty advancements including merits, promotions, appraisals, five-year reviews and deferrals.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training

Experience Academic Personnel Manual to include faculty appointment, merit, appraisal and promotion process

Thorough knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret systemwide, organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.

Critical thinking and applied problem-solving skills to research, analyze and interpret complex information.

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills to effectively respond in a professional manner by email, in person, or by telephone

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with UCD Academic Personnel, preferably within School of Medicine

Department Overview
The Office of Academic Personnel, School of Medicine Dean's Office has overall responsibility for administration of the academic personnel process in the School of Medicine which consists of 25 academic departments. The office is comprised of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Personnel, Assistant Dean, Academic HR Manager and HR Analysts. In addition, the Office of Academic Personnel encompasses both the Faculty Development team and the International Affiliations Program. The workforce of the School consists of approximately 3050 academic appointees including members of the Academic Senate, Academic Federation, Volunteer Clinical Faculty, graduate student titles, post-doctoral titles, and all other SOM academic titles.
Academic Personnel oversees the recruitment, advancement, compensation and retention of all academic personnel. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the staff works collaboratively to provide high-level analytical support to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Department Chairs, Chief Administrative Officers and faculty. They provide training, information, policy interpretation, and development of new policies and procedures.
