Job Posting: Case Manager/Paralegal – Disability Department
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Firm: Horenstein, Nicholson & Blumenthal, LPA.

Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated by helping people through life-changing disability claims? Are you looking for a career with a growing law firm where your work directly supports clients, attorneys, and a collaborative legal team? If so, we want you to join our team at HNB.

We are a rapidly growing law firm expanding our Disability Department. We are seeking a Case Manager to join our Dayton office and support our work representing individuals pursuing disability benefits. This position may support our Social Security Disability or Veterans Disability team, depending on experience, interest, and team needs.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys managing details, communicating with clients, tracking deadlines, gathering records, and helping move cases forward in a structured and professional way.

Responsibilities:

Manage an assigned caseload under the supervision of attorneys and senior team members.
Serve as a regular point of contact for clients by providing case status updates, gathering information, and helping clients understand procedural next steps.
Gather, request, track, and follow up on medical records, government records, employment records, and other case-related documents.
Review records and case materials using established protocols to identify missing information, incomplete development, deadlines, and issues that may require attorney attention.
Track case deadlines, tasks, appointments, filings, and case status updates in the firm’s case management system.
Prepare, format, organize, and upload documents, evidence, forms, and correspondence.
Assist with filings and submissions at attorney direction.
Respond to routine procedural correspondence and case updates according to established firm protocols.
Communicate with clients, medical providers, government agencies, and other third parties in a professional and timely manner.
Triage case issues by determining whether a matter can be handled under established procedures or should be escalated to an attorney.
Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and other case managers to ensure cases move forward efficiently and accurately.

Qualifications:

Strong commitment to providing excellent service to clients.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple cases, tasks, and deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow procedures, document work accurately, and recognize when an issue should be escalated.
Comfortable using technology, case management systems, email, document management tools, and Microsoft Office.
Professional, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Prior legal, medical records, case management, administrative, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
A paralegal certificate, associate degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience is preferred but not required.
Experience with disability claims, Social Security Disability, Veterans Disability, medical records, or government benefits is a plus.
