Full Job Description

The Grinding Specialist/CNC Machinist is a skilled position having responsibility for ensuring that all production and prototype work are performed to established Gleason Metrology Systems (GMS) manufacturing operations/practices and in accordance with industry standards and preferred machine shop trade methods/techniques. Thorough knowledge of grinder setup, operation, and maintenance as pertains to daily operation.

Strong working knowledge and skills relative to reading schematics, utilizing various measuring instruments and part inspection are required to ensure operations are accurate, quality standards and engineering drawing requirements are met and verified in a production and prototype support team working environment.

*Flat Grinding is a major plus*

Additional responsibilities involve the knowledge and application of materials, processes and coatings used in the manufacturing process. The Grinding Specialist/CNC Machinist is relied upon to work efficiently applying excellent shop practices and safety at all times, maintain daily professional communication and hand-off to co-workers, ensure and apply high workmanship standards and quality of workmanship confirmation toward all manufacturing processes, machine work center operation and inspection methods. This includes a pro-active mindset and consistent self-management in realizing, planning and meeting requirements against established GMS best practices, work policies and procedures and consistently supporting/maintaining GMS’s Master Production Schedule and the subsequent on-time delivery commitment to GMS customers.

The Grinding Specialist/CNC Machinist is competent in performing tasks that have the potential to cause a significant environmental impact(s) per GMS Environmental Management System Operational Controls.
