Full Job Description

<Job Overview>
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our project team and drive excellence in construction project financial management. In this role, you will oversee the financial aspects of various HVAC construction projects, ensuring accurate accounting, completeness of the project account, compliance, billing, and timely reporting. Your expertise will support project success by maintaining rigorous financial controls, analyzing project costs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large and small projects within a fast-paced environment within the confines of a recurring monthly schedule.

<Duties>

Manage the full cycle of project accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking project expenses against budgets using advanced accounting software such as QuickBooks.
Use the system to prepare detailed financial reports, statements, and analyses to support project decision-making and stakeholder updates.
Conduct account reconciliation procedures for general ledger accounts related to projects, ensuring accuracy in debits & credits.
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes specific to project transactions; ensure timely processing and accurate posting.
Perform billing functions, collect waivers, make vendor payments based on receiving funds.
Support internal audits by providing documentation, conducting audit procedures related to project finances, and implementing improvements based on audit findings.
Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to analyze financial data for forecasting, budgeting, and cost control initiatives.

<Skills>

Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Solid understanding of corporate finance concepts such as balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, cash flow management, and financial statement interpretation.
Strong analytical skills for financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and account reconciliation processes.
Ability to mentor team members effectively while fostering a collaborative work environment.
Excellent attention to detail combined with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
