Tax Manager

Grapevine, TX | Hybrid

Up to $160,000 plus 20 percent bonus

A lot of public accounting job adverts talk about advisory work.

Far fewer roles actually deliver it.

The planning conversations often happen a level above you. The consulting projects get picked up by someone more senior. And even when the word advisory appears in the advert, most of the year can still be spent looking backwards at what clients have already done rather than helping them think through what they should do next.

This Tax Manager role with an independent CPA firm in Grapevine TX is genuinely different in that respect.

The client base is actively asking for more than compliance. They want advice, planning conversations, and an accountant who is engaged in their business rather than just processing their paperwork.

That has created a real and growing stream of tax planning and consulting work alongside the core compliance piece. You are involved in the conversations that shape what clients do next, not just the person filing the evidence afterward.

The package also reflects the seniority of the role. The salary goes up to $160,000, with a 20 percent bonus on top. There is hybrid working built around output rather than desk time, and you will have direct access to decision makers rather than being kept at arm’s length by unnecessary layers of management.

What you will be doing

Managing and reviewing tax returns for individuals and privately owned businesses.

Supporting clients with tax planning and year round advisory work.

Getting involved in consulting projects that go beyond routine compliance.

Acting as a key client contact and building strong, lasting relationships.

Reviewing junior team members’ work and supporting their development.

Working closely with leadership on client strategy and delivery priorities.

Managing deadlines while maintaining quality across your portfolio.

What they are looking for

Public accounting tax experience at Senior, Supervisor, or Manager level.

Strong technical grounding across core compliance work.

Confidence working directly with clients and building genuine trust.

Someone who enjoys both the technical detail and the bigger picture thinking.

The ability to balance compliance delivery with planning and consulting conversations.

CPA or EA required.
