Position Summary
Forefront Government Services is seeking a skilled and dependable Plumber to support facilities maintenance operations at Fort Johnson. The Plumber is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial plumbing systems and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations. This position plays a vital role in maintaining mission readiness by providing high-quality plumbing services across government facilities.

Essential ResponsibilitiesPlumbing Installation & Maintenance
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace commercial plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Service sinks, toilets, urinals, faucets, flush valves, bathtubs, showers, water heaters, water softeners, garbage disposals, and related plumbing equipment.
- Repair domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing systems and equipment.
Repairs & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose plumbing issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Repair or replace damaged piping, valves, fittings, fixtures, and associated equipment.
- Locate and repair water leaks and sewer line issues.
- Clear clogged drains using mechanical snakes, jetting equipment, and other specialized tools.
- Conduct pressure testing and inspect systems for leaks and proper operation.
Construction & Installation
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Measure, cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipe using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Install piping systems using copper, PVC, cast iron, steel, PEX, and other approved materials.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable plumbing codes, contract requirements, and safety standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA, Army, and Forefront safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Properly document completed work orders and maintenance activities.
- Report equipment deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
Customer Service
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency service calls.
- Communicate professionally with government personnel, supervisors, and team members.
- Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial, industrial, institutional, or government plumbing experience.
- Working knowledge of commercial plumbing systems, tools, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required government installation access or security credentials.
Preferred
- Journeyman Plumber License.
- Experience working on military installations, federal facilities, healthcare facilities, universities, or large commercial campuses.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Backflow Prevention certification (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely operate plumbing tools, power equipment, and service vehicles.
Work Environment
Work is performed throughout a government installation in offices, administrative buildings, barracks, maintenance facilities, warehouses, mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor environments. The position may require responding to emergency maintenance situations and working around mechanical systems, electrical equipment, noise, and varying weather conditions while maintaining strict compliance with government safety requirements.
