Full Job Description

Founded in 1952, we have since become a one-stop-shop for the highest quality instruments, valves, services, and solutions. Job Summary: The Controller is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the accounting department while ensuring the integrity of the organization's financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations. This role provides strategic leadership across all accounting functions, partners with executive leadership on financial planning initiatives, and drives continuous process improvements to support organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, tax accounting, and financial reporting.
Develop, implement, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
Oversee cash management, treasury activities, banking relationships, and daily cash positioning to ensure adequate liquidity and efficient working capital management.
Prepare bi-weekly and monthly payroll, including reconciliation of quarterly and yearly reports and W-2's
Prepare, review, and file sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and strategic initiatives that support operational efficiency and business growth.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated experience leading and developing accounting staff.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, month-end close processes, and sales and use tax compliance.
Experience with ERP systems preferably within a distribution environment.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, and financial analysis.
Experience writing and executing SQL queries to extract, analyze, and validate financial data.
Demonstrated ability to consistently meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, sound judgment, and a strong work ethic.
