Full Job Description

Barr-Nunn Transportation LLC, a premier truckload carrier in business for over 43 years, is currently hiring for a Accounting Assistant in our Accouting department to join our team in Granger, IA.

The ideal candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to stay organized while handling a variety of tasks. If you have previous experience in an admin support capacity, we’d like to meet you.

Pay is hourly and based on experience, plus quarterly bonuses.

Employment contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and drug screens.

Main Job Responsibilities

Process incoming cash payments accurately to customer accounts
Process vendor invoices and credit memos in accounts payable system and file
Reconcile fuel accounts weekly
Reconcile weekly/monthly credit card statements
Complete monthly/quarterly reports
Reconcile general ledger accounts
Maintain orderly financial filing system
Assist with other accounting projects in the office

Education and Experience

2 year degree in accounting preferred or 2 years equivalent accounting experience

Skills and Personal Characteristics

Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong computer/technology skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Creative, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to organize work and prioritize to meet deadlines
Thorough, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
Ability to adapt to change and technology
Comfortable in fast paced transportation accounting environment
