We customize our services to meet our clients' design and compliance needs.

Position Overview: Shen Milsom & Wilke is pleased to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and results-oriented Senior Level Audiovisual Consultant to join our team in Chicago, IL.

SM&W has a hybrid work policy. This position requires your presence three days a week in the Chicago, IL office or on a project site and permits two days remote.

Key Responsibilities: The Audiovisual Senior Consultant is responsible for overseeing the complete design and technical development of integrated audiovisual systems. This role includes creating detailed system designs, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, and providing support throughout the implementation of projects. The ideal candidate should possess a strong combination of engineering expertise, the ability to review architectural plans, attention to documentation accuracy, and effective client communication skills.

Project Planning & Project Management

Lead the full AV systems design process from concept through production, including the development of constructible plans and specifications.
Serve as Task Lead and/or Project Manager on medium to highly complex projects, providing technical and project direction while independently managing assigned responsibilities.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables are effectively managed.
Analyze project requirements, task needs, changes, and enhancements and provide appropriate technical and project recommendations.
Review and apply applicable regulations, industry standards, policies, and technical requirements necessary to conduct studies and execute project activities.
Participate in design reviews, safety assessments, and quality assurance activities, providing systems engineering expertise and recommendations.
Monitor project expenditures and financial performance to ensure alignment with approved budgets and financial plans.
Ensure adherence to SM&W quality standards and established QA/QC procedures.
Monitor and communicate project progress to internal and external stakeholders and proactively identify and resolve project related issues.
Support the development of engineers and other technical staff through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and transfer of technical expertise.
Maintain current knowledge of industry developments, emerging technologies, standards, requirements, policies, and procedures.
Prepare responses to RFPs and participate in client interviews, presentations, and other business development activities.
Travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 5% to 15%.

Skills and Qualifications:

Advanced degree in engineering or a related technical field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering, architectural, construction, or related consulting environments.
CTS certification required; CTS D strongly preferred.
Project Management certification preferred.
Strong knowledge of major AV platforms and technologies, including Crestron, AMX, Extron, Q SYS, Biamp, Dante, AVB, AES67, Microsoft Teams Rooms, and Zoom Rooms.
Demonstrated knowledge of the A/E design and construction process, including the development of constructible plans and specifications.
Strong project management skills with demonstrated knowledge of scope, schedule, budgeting, and financial management.
Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
Proven ability to lead teams, coordinate with management and project stakeholders, and effectively manage competing priorities.
Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple assignments in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
Conscientious, adaptable, and collaborative, with a strong work ethic and demonstrated leadership mindset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.
Working knowledge of Autodesk Revit
