Position Summary
Designs and develops products from customer specifications, request for quote packages or statements of work. Working with manufacturing personnel, the product engineer is responsible for the integration of materials, methods, procedures and tools necessary to bring new products to the company portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in an effective manner with customers, clients, suppliers, and employees.
- Evaluates and understands customer technical specifications and requirements for new products.
- Utilizes CAD software to generate component, sub-assembly, final assembly models and dimensioned/detailed drawings.
- Utilized CAD or packaging software to evaluate container/carton pack density, weight and footprint requirements studies to support internal and customer requests.
- Identifies potential cost savings opportunities, organizes them and works closely with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to assess feasibility and implementation.
- Leads and/or participates in new product and equipment design reviews.
- Prepares and coordinates accurate product documentation, including ECN's, drawings, part and tooling quotes, BOM's, process/standard costs, stress analysis and test reports, customer Technical Review presentations.
- Works with new equipment launch team on RFQ packages, procurement, supplier evaluation, design reviews, buy-off and installation.
- Attends/Leads internal and customer meetings as required.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field required
- Minimum of 1-3 years of related experience within a manufacturing environment (preferably in the automotive industry); or equivalent combination of education and experience

- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
- Computer Skills: Ability to use a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, most notably Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams. Ability to use the main business information system (PLEX experience is preferred), and Internet-based services. Proficiency with CAD Software (CATIA, NX, ProE, AutoCAD) preferred.

Physical Demands
The position is in the factory and involves walking, standing for long periods of time throughout the day. It requires being able to lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to 75 pounds. Involve continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements while operating a machine. Stooping/bending/twisting is required on regular basis. Fast-paced environment, usually work standard 40-hour weeks, but overtime may be necessary as work load’s dictate. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
Work Environments
Work performed in both an office and shop environment and regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise. It requires wearing personal protective or safety equipment. Noise level is frequently loud (90 dbA). The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles. Requires working in non-air-conditioned variable temperature factory setting. Employees may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing, pre-employment physical and background checks.
