Full Job Description

We are seeking a strategic Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement operations and optimize supply chain processes for a instrument manufacturing company in Oak Park, MI. In this role you will work on sourcing, purchasing, and logistics to ensure seamless flow of materials and products into the Company. Multi-tasking is huge in this two-person department.

Responsibilities Include:

Analyze existing purchasing processes for performance and implement improvements to the process
Handle negotiations with vendors and suppliers
Enter purchase orders, track and get proper invoice to the accounting department
Analyze reports for demand, production scheduling and adjustments. Prepare to do expediting and follow up on purchase orders.
Foster cross-function collaboration across departments such as manufacturing, plant operations, accounting, and logistics.
Oversee and ensure supplier relations to confirm quality standards are being met and negotiating for cost savings.
Communication from vendors from other countries on their time frame.
Handle an incredible amount of items to be purchased and expedited into the company.
Be able to work in a two person department.
Leading the yearly inventory program.

Requirements:

A large amount of patience learning a computer system and becoming familiar with a large number of various parts and finished products from many suppliers.
Expertise in procurements within a manufacturing environment.
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel data analysis.
Prior experience working in Purchasing of a manufacturing company.
Experience with doing business with vendors in other countries and logistics to get the material here.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Flexible if travel to a vendor becomes necessary and work longer hours if necessary.
