Description

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist (OR Tech) with OR experience, including total joints and C-sections, for a 13-week travel contract at a Critical Access Hospital in North Dakota.

Details

Acute care OR setting at a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) with 6 OR suites and 1 GI suite
Patient population includes adults, pediatrics, geriatrics, and obstetric cases
Common case types include total joints, ORIF, arthroscopy, C-sections, LAVH, D&C, diagnostic laparoscopy, lap appy, and lap chole
Equipment used includes C-arm, Mako robot, LigaSure, and harmonic scalpel
Charting system is MEDITECH
Day shifts, 9 hours, Monday–Thursday, 0600–1530 or 0700–1630 (schedule subject to change with notice to include Fridays)
Call required: 1–2 weeknight call shifts per week (end of shift through 0700 the following day), with a minimum of 7 call shifts per 6-week period
Weekend call required: at least one weekend per month (Friday 0700 through Monday 0700)
Holiday on-call coverage required
Floating is not typical unless the candidate has prior training in other areas
Scrubs are provided by the facility
13-week contract

Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of OR Tech experience required
Familiarity with total joint procedures and C-sections required
BLS certification (active; pending not accepted)
ND UAP certification required
CST (NBSTSA) or NCCT certification preferred
Experience with Mako robot and orthopedic procedures is a plus
Active state or compact (NLC) RN license for the state submitting — license required if applicable; pending licenses are not accepted
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
Candidates may not currently be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
A valid driver's license is required for consideration
2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
Note: North Dakota does not recognize military service as an education source and does not supersede state requirements

Additional Information

This is a non-clinical OR Tech role — no clinical involvement
1–2 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation provided
Team/self-scheduling model
Candidates with facial hair must pass a fit test (3M Aura 1860 or 3M 1870+); if unable to pass, a PortaCount test is required — candidates who cannot remove facial hair and fail fit testing may have their contract canceled
RTO must be requested upfront; 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract are permitted, and additional RTO will not be approved
Candidates who were previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms at CommonSpirit-affiliated facilities will be considered
