Full Job Description

Senior Accountant

We have been engaged to conduct an executive search for a temporary Senior Accountant for our client a Hospital-based Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with offices in Boston, MA.

The Health Center is affiliated with a major Boston Teaching Hospital and is a Hospital-licensed outpatient facility. The Controller will work at the south Boston location. There is on-site parking available and their office is located near the T.

The starting rate of pay will be $60 to $70 per hour depending on background and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant is responsible for processing cash receipts and for day-to-day administration of general ledger entries.

This is a temporary position. The initial engagement will be for 3 months. The engagement may be extended, There will be a search for a full-time permanent position and the temporary employee will be eligible to apply for it, if they wish

Our client is implementing the Sage Intaact ERP system. The temporary Senior Accountant must have prior experience with Sage Intaact financial reporting. This is a high priority.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cash Reconciliation

· Coordinate with the health center’s Eye Care Affiliates – South Shore (CECA-SS), a subsidiary of the Health Center, to timely deposit patient and third-party check payments.

· Obtain daily bank activity statement(s) and process EFT credits for CECA-SS.

· Prepare journal entry for GL posting of all daily cash (and cash equivalents) receipts to appropriate accounts and cost centers including miscellaneous debit transactions for CECA-SS.

· Maintain Cash Recording Worksheet file from which GL journal entry(ies) are sourced and that produces CFO Cash Activity and Balance Reports for CECA-SS.

· Reconcile monthly patient cash and third-party payments to OfficeMate accounts receivable payments posted by the billing agent to ensure proper AR balances.

· Prepare daily cash and check bank deposit with supporting reconciled daily reports for review by Accounting Manager and make (or arrange for) deposit at the bank before each day’s closing time.

· Prepare cash reconciliation for CECA-SS, including booking third party net patient revenue and optical shop sales.

· Conduct assigned work as a back-up for daily cash recording and reconciliation for CSHC.

General Ledger Maintenance

· Reconcile bank account activity to bank statements on a monthly basis for the Health Center and CECA-SS.

· Responsible for recording all journal entries and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for CECA-SS.

· Maintain Balance Sheet Account work papers monthly for CECA-SS and assigned accounts for Health Center to ensure the balances tie to the general ledger and that the balances contain appropriate back-ups. Reconcile and explain variance(s), as appropriate. Monitor account work papers monthly for release of amounts in such accounts, as is appropriate for operations.

· Maintain Solomon Fixed Assets (Plumbline) for the Health Center by updating system for asset additions, run monthly depreciation reports for GL entry, reconcile Fixed Assets balance in GL and Plumbline. Produce other Fixed Asset reports as needed for budgeting and forecasting.

· Review and ensure the capital items are appropriately and timely recorded.

· Record journal entries for Prepaid Expenses and maintain and reconcile Prepaid Expenses.

· Record monthly accruals for assigned GL accounts for preparation of financial statements and preparation of financial reports to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.

· Review building operations related invoices to ensure the Health Center/Condominium Trust and invoices are properly coded for payment directly by the entity by or through posting to the Due To/ From account(s).

· Analyze Due To/From account activity on CSHC/CECA-SS/Condo Trust records to ensure proper accounting into the appropriate entity and ensure matching intercompany balances.

· Complete monthly the allocation spreadsheet to execute the Shared Services Agreement between a third party and the Health Center. Prepare GL entries to support monthly Condo Fee computations and reconciliations and other activity and track Due To/From balances from Condo Trust unit owners.

· Reconcile grants receivable and temporary restricted net assets, on a monthly basis. Work with the Senior Grants and Contract Analyst to ensure that grant revenue is recorded timely and accurately, and cash received for grants and contributions are recorded correctly.

· Prepare banking, management fee and other miscellaneous journal entries and work papers to support entity balances.

· Assist with the compilation of quarterly forecast for CSHC and the annual operating and capital budgets for both entities.

· Assist and support Accounting Manager and Controller in compilation of materials for internal and external audits and other reporting including tax filings, grant reporting, census reports, and payer reports.

· Work with the billing agent to ensure accurate cash recognition.

Other

· Coordinate with the CECA-SS office to ensure that timely processing of invoices, and timely and accurate reconciliation of petty cash.

· Other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager and Controller.

QUALIFICATIONS

·Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
5 years of accounting and experience and
3+ yrs. experience accounting for a Healthcare Provider strongly preferred
2-3 years of experience with Sage Intaact (ERP system) financial reporting required
Light exposure to budgeting and payroll preferred.
3 years of experience performing the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing preferred
3 years of producing financial reports for management
·Excellent analytical skills and attention to details a must.
·Proficient in MS Office and with Dynamic SL GL Package and Management Reporter.
Advanced / Strong skill and experience with Excel
·Knowledge of Paycom payroll is a plus.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
·Ability to maintain confidentiality.
