Full Job Description

Job Summary

The job coach’s primary goal is to motivate the consumer to achieve their workforce goals and integrate into the community. Job coaches aid individuals with disabilities learn, accommodate and perform their job duties. The job coach will be required to assess the consumer's strengths and needs by completing situational assessments. The job coach will work with individuals both in and outside of the workplace creating intervention techniques to help consumers learn to perform job tasks based on the employer’s specifications. Also, he or she must teach interpersonal skills necessary to be accepted as a worker at the job site.

Responsibilities and Duties

Job Duties

Complete situational assessments
Orient client to work site, i.e. time cards, bathrooms, break areas, rules, etc.
Train clients to advocate/solve own problems on the job.
Train clients on appropriate behaviors needed for success on the job.
Provides timely interventions. Returns phone calls and reacts to situations in a timely manner. For example, returns client phone calls within 24 hours. Goes to see employers about job loss or job problems within 24 hours.
Providing retention support including regular in-person or phone/e-mail contact.
Monitor and evaluate progress of clients
Advise on workplace accommodations for people with disabilities
Assess the strengths of individuals and teach them to use them effectively
Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks
Helping clients in applying for online positions.
Helping clients learn to interview effectively.

Perform Administrative Functions

Maintain confidential files containing required information for clients served.
The employee must chart all time worked accurately.
Complete and submit required reports, forms, and documents on time. i.e. completing all client documentation, including weekly and monthly progress notes.
Advise supervisor of problems/difficulties
Ensure proper follow up/case file information for clients in long-term support.

Qualifications and Skills

Associates or High School Diploma
Must have a valid Alabama Driver’s License, acceptable driving record, and automobile insurance.
Excellent communication and written skills.
Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
Flexible work schedule.
Willingness to perform a variety of either “blue collar” or “white collar” job tasks.
Knowledge of appropriate work ethic and the world of work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
