Director of Nursing (Assisted Living)

Location: Confidential
Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview

A well-established assisted living community is seeking an experienced and driven Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations and ensure the highest standards of resident care. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing nursing services, regulatory compliance, team development, and quality outcomes within the community.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on clinical leader with a strong background in senior living, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, resident-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all clinical operations within the community, including resident care, assessments, and service planning
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Supervise, mentor, and develop nursing staff (LPNs, RNs, CNAs, Caregivers)
Coordinate care with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams
Manage staffing schedules, labor budgets, and clinical resources
Monitor and maintain quality assurance and performance improvement programs
Lead infection control practices and medication management systems
Participate in resident admissions, assessments, and care plan development
Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on excellence in care

Qualifications

Current, active RN license (required)
Minimum 3–5 years of nursing leadership experience, preferably in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care
Strong knowledge of state regulations and survey readiness
Proven leadership, team-building, and organizational skills
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Passion for working with seniors and enhancing quality of life

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in assisted living or memory care environments
Prior experience as a Director of Nursing or Health Services Director
Demonstrated success with occupancy support and family satisfaction
