Horizon OMS is a brand-new Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice opening in Lombard, Illinois, and we're looking for an exceptional individual to become one of the founding members of our team.

Unlike joining an established office, you'll have the opportunity to help build this practice from the ground up. During our startup phase, you will serve as the primary front office team member, becoming the welcoming face of the practice while helping establish the systems, culture, and patient experience that will define Horizon OMS.

As the practice grows, additional front office personnel will be hired to support daily operations. This position is intentionally designed to evolve into a true Office Manager role, overseeing office operations, personnel, hiring, training, and the day-to-day management of the practice.

Responsibilities

During the startup phase, responsibilities will include:

Welcoming patients and creating an exceptional first impression
Answering phones and managing patient communications
Scheduling consultations and surgical appointments
Presenting treatment plans and discussing financial arrangements
Collecting payments and managing patient accounts
Verifying insurance benefits and coordinating with both in-network and out-of-network insurance providers
Managing administrative workflows and helping establish efficient office systems
Maintaining professionalism while independently managing the front office

As the practice expands, responsibilities will transition to include:

Managing daily office operations
Supervising front office personnel
Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training new employees
Coaching and developing team members
Improving office systems and efficiency
Working closely with the surgeon to continue growing the practice

Practice Development

Because Horizon OMS is a startup practice, building relationships within the dental community is essential.

The Office Manager will occasionally accompany the surgeon on visits to local referring dental offices to introduce the practice, foster referral relationships, and professionally represent Horizon OMS within the community.

Required Qualifications

Previous experience in a dental or medical front office
Strong treatment planning and financial presentation experience
Experience discussing insurance benefits and patient financial responsibility
Working knowledge of both in-network and out-of-network insurance
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong computer proficiency
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Highly Preferred

Candidates with the following experience will receive the strongest consideration:

Experience working in a specialty dental PPO practice (Oral Surgery, Periodontics, Endodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, etc.)
Oral surgery practice experience
Experience with DSN or other oral surgery practice management software
Medical insurance billing experience
Leadership or supervisory experience
Bilingual English/Spanish

Compensation, Growth & Benefits

Salary: $60,000–$80,000 annually, based on experience.

Because this position is expected to evolve into the Office Manager role, compensation is designed to reflect the long-term opportunity rather than a traditional front desk position.
