Full Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of an established and growing, small-mid sized organization. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and providing meaningful financial insight to support strategic business decisions.

Reporting directly to ownership, the Controller will manage one accounting professional while partnering closely with leadership to strengthen financial processes, improve operational efficiency, and support the company's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
Prepare and analyze accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all financial reporting.
Supervise, mentor, and develop one direct report.
Develop, maintain, and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
Partner with ownership and leadership to provide financial analysis, operational insights, and strategic recommendations.
Manage cash flow, working capital, and overall financial performance.
Coordinate with the company's external CPA firm for tax preparation, year-end review, and audit activities.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable financial regulations.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting capabilities, and financial systems.
Support leadership with special projects, business planning, and financial decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
Prior experience as a Controller within a small to mid-sized organization.
Proven experience leading the full accounting cycle and financial reporting function.
Experience supervising and mentoring accounting staff.
Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial best practices.
Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a hands-on environment where both strategic thinking and day-to-day execution are essential.
