Job Title: Lead Baker

Pay: $25–30 per hour (after tips)

Job description:

About us – Lever Coffee & Bakery is a community-driven coffee shop and bakery. Everything is made in-house and baked fresh daily. We pride ourselves on quality, creativity, and being a welcoming neighborhood space.

Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Lead Baker to take ownership of our bakery program. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, communicative, and passionate about both craft and leadership. You’ll be responsible not only for production, but also for guiding the bakery team, maintaining quality standards, managing costs, and contributing new ideas to the menu.

You’ll work closely with the coffee shop manager to ensure smooth daily operations and a cohesive customer experience.

Shift/Schedule – flexible shift start time
Wednesday - Sunday preferred

Experience – 4+ years baking or pastry experience required
Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred

Must have experience making croissants and laminated doughs using a sheeter.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead daily bakery operations and production schedule
Oversee and execute production of croissants, bread dough, puff pastry, cookies, pies, and more
Develop and introduce new, innovative recipes and seasonal offerings
Maintain consistency, quality, and efficiency across all baked goods
Monitor and manage cost of goods sold (COGS), including ingredient usage and waste reduction
Accurately scale recipes and calculate production quantities
Ensure a clean, organized, and well-maintained kitchen
Coordinate and communicate effectively with the coffee shop manager and team
Train, support, and motivate team members while fostering a positive work environment
Problem-solve in real time and adapt to daily operational needs

Requirements:

ServSafe Food Handler® Card – CA
Strong understanding of food safety, handling, and storage procedures
Highly organized with excellent time management skills
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently when needed
Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and collaborate
Comfortable in a fast-paced, early-morning production environment
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Strong attention to detail in following recipes and measuring ingredients
