Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, driven, and hands-on Hotel General Manager to lead an award-winning Hotel in the Hermantown/Duluth, MN market. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in hotel operations, team leadership, and guest satisfaction, with a preference for experience in Wyndham-branded properties. The Hotel General Manager is responsible for overseeing daily hotel operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining high standards of service and hospitality. This role requires strong leadership skills, a commitment to guest satisfaction, and the ability to manage various departments effectively. The ideal candidate will have a background in hotel management and a passion for the hospitality industry.

Duties

Lead and manage all hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction and improve overall hotel performance.
Oversee human resources functions including hiring, training, and performance management of staff.
Manage financial aspects of the hotel, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations.
Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth among staff members.
Address guest inquiries and resolve any issues promptly to maintain high levels of guest relations.
Conduct regular inspections of the property to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met.
Coordinate with various departments for smooth operations during peak times or special events.

Skills

Proven experience in hotel management or a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry.
Strong understanding of guest services principles and practices.
Excellent communication skills; multilingual abilities are a plus.
Proficient in using phone systems and hotel management software.
Knowledge of night audit procedures is advantageous.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on guest relations.
Ability to lead diverse teams effectively while promoting a collaborative work environment.
Familiarity with human resources practices related to hiring and employee development in a hospitality setting.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Hotel General Manager or Assistant General Manager
Branded or Wyndham brand experience preferred (e.g., La Quinta Inn and Suites, AmericInn, Tryp, Wyndham Garden, etc.)
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to manage P&L, drive performance, and improve guest satisfaction metrics
Knowledge of hospitality systems and tools (PMS, OTA platforms, IHG Concerto preferred)
Ability to lead by example and motivate teams in a fast-paced environment
