About School Choice CPA & Associates

School Choice CPA & Associates is a specialized CPA firm serving private schools, charter schools, scholarship-funded schools, churches, and other educational organizations. We provide audit, accounting, tax, compliance, and outsourced back-office support services tailored specifically to the education industry.

We are seeking an experienced CPA Accountant to join our growing team and support our audit, accounting, and outsourced CFO/back-office service lines.

Position Overview

The CPA Accountant will assist with audit and assurance engagements, outsourced accounting services, QuickBooks Online management, monthly bank reconciliations, financial reporting, and client advisory support for schools and education-based organizations.

This role is ideal for a CPA who is detail-oriented, client-focused, comfortable managing multiple school clients, and experienced in financial reporting, accounting cleanup, reconciliations, and audit support.

Key Responsibilities: Audit & Assurance Support

Assist with audit, review, compilation, and agreed-upon procedures engagements for schools and nonprofit organizations.

Support the preparation of audit workpapers, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

Review client records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable reporting requirements.

Communicate with clients to obtain missing information and resolve accounting or compliance-related questions.

Assist with financial statement preparation and audit-ready reporting packages.

Outsourced Accounting & Back-Office Support

Manage monthly accounting services for school clients using QuickBooks Online.

Complete monthly bank and credit card reconciliations.

Review and properly classify revenue, expenses, payroll, scholarship income, tuition, grants, and other school-related transactions.

Prepare and issue monthly financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and budget-to-actual reports.

Assist clients with maintaining clean, accurate, and timely books.

Identify accounting issues, coding errors, and opportunities to improve financial processes.

Client Advisory & Communication

Serve as a key accounting contact for assigned school clients.

Provide clear communication to clients regarding financial reports, missing documentation, compliance needs, and accounting best practices.

Assist school administrators and leadership teams in understanding their financial position.

Support internal team members with client deliverables, deadlines, and project completion.

Qualifications

Active CPA license required.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.

Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant public accounting, audit, nonprofit, school accounting, or outsourced accounting experience preferred.

Strong experience with QuickBooks Online required.

Experience preparing financial statements and completing monthly reconciliations.

Audit, review, compilation, or agreed-upon procedures experience preferred.

Experience with schools, nonprofits, churches, charter schools, or scholarship-funded organizations is a plus.

Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

Excellent organizational, communication, and client service skills.

Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and projects at the same time.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience working with private schools, charter schools, or nonprofit organizations.

Knowledge of school scholarship programs, restricted funds, tuition revenue, grants, payroll, and education-related compliance.

Experience with Canopy, Bill.com, Gusto, Procare, or similar accounting/client management platforms.

Ability to review accounting records and identify cleanup needs.

Comfortable explaining financial information to non-accounting professionals.

Pay: $68,000.00 - $93,000.00 per year
