Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Part-Time Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this role, you will support the organization’s accounting functions by managing financial records, reconciling accounts, and assisting with various bookkeeping tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in corporate and non-profit accounting environments while contributing to accurate financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and possess a strong foundation in accounting principles and software.

Responsibilities

Maintain and update financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Quicken.
Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account analysis to ensure accuracy.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately.
Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and assist with month-end closing activities.
Support payroll processing, including data entry and compliance with payroll regulations.
Assist with budgeting, financial report writing, and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Conduct account reconciliation tasks, including bank reconciliation and account analysis for governmental or non-profit entities.

Experience

Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably within corporate, non-profit, or governmental sectors.
Familiarity with multiple accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar financial software.
Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger accounting.
Experience with payroll processing, tax preparation support, and account reconciliation procedures.
Knowledge of GAAP standards and technical accounting practices is highly desirable.
Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently along with attention to detail for accurate data entry.
Prior experience working with accounts payable/receivable processes and budget management is a plus.
