Front Office Medical Assistant (Non-Clinical)
Minneapolis, MN

Overview:
Our organization is seeking a detail-oriented Front Office Medical Assistant to support administrative operations in a healthcare setting serving Veterans. This fully non-clinical role focuses on front desk coordination, scheduling, and maintaining efficient daily workflows, ideal for candidates who thrive in organized, patient-facing environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate front desk operations, including patient check-in, check-out, and reception duties
Manage appointment scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations to optimize provider calendars
Verify insurance coverage, process referrals and authorizations, and maintain accurate patient records, including demographic and insurance information
Monitor daily workflow and adjust scheduling or room usage to minimize wait times and bottlenecks
Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and route calls and messages to appropriate staff
Prepare and organize forms, files, and documentation needed for patient visits
Liaise with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely patient flow and support daily operations
Track and report front office metrics, such as appointment volume, no-shows, and scheduling trends

Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical front office, clinic, or healthcare administrative setting
Strong scheduling, calendar management, and front desk workflow skills, with high accuracy in data entry and record maintenance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information per regulations
Comfortable working within structured government procedures and established protocols
Formal training in medical assisting, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred; CMA, RMA, or similar credential advantageous
