Full Job Description

The Alaska Jewish Campus is seeking an organized, detail-oriented professional to join our team in a unique dual-role position combining bookkeeping and administrative support. This full-time position is designed for someone who enjoys both numbers and organization, providing approximately half of each workday supporting the organization's financial operations and the other half assisting with administrative and project coordination. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, values meaningful work, and wants to play an important role in helping a growing nonprofit operate efficiently.

Position Overview This position is intentionally divided into two primary areas of responsibility:

Approximately 20 hours per week: Bookkeeping and financial administration
Approximately 20 hours per week: Administrative Assistant

The ideal candidate is dependable, proactive, organized, and comfortable moving between detailed financial work and fast-paced administrative responsibilities. Bookkeeping Responsibilities (Approximately 50%) Manage the organization's day-to-day bookkeeping functions using QuickBooks Desktop, including:

Record and categorize financial transactions
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations
Process payroll accurately and on schedule
Maintain employee payroll records
Prepare financial reports for leadership
Assist with monthly and year-end financial closing
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
Work with our CPA during tax preparation and annual reporting
Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with financial procedures

Administrative Assistant Responsibilities (Approximately 50%) Provide direct support by:

Managing calendars, scheduling, and email correspondence
Drafting, editing, and proofreading emails, letters, and other communications
Preparing meeting materials and agendas
Coordinating follow-up items and keeping projects moving forward
Assisting with presentations, research, and organizational initiatives
Supporting marketing and outreach materials (Canva experience preferred)
Coordinating meetings, events, and logistics
Running occasional local errands and providing general administrative support
Helping prioritize tasks and keeping leadership organized

Qualifications Required

Previous bookkeeping experience
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop
Experience processing payroll
Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
Experience reconciling bank and credit card accounts
Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping principles
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality with financial and organizational information
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
Ability to type at least 40-50 WPM

Preferred

Experience working for a nonprofit organization
Experience with Canva or similar design software
Administrative Assistant experience
Experience coordinating projects or events

Compensation: $25–$28 per hour, depending on experience
