Salesperson – Landscaping
The Salesperson is responsible for generating new business, maintaining strong client relationships, and serving as a front-line representative of the landscaping company. This role requires proactive outreach through cold calls, warm calls, door-to-door prospecting, direct client communication, and in-person client meetings. The Salesperson will help identify customer needs, communicate service options, coordinate estimate opportunities, and monitor the company database for projects requiring estimates and bids.
Key Responsibilities
· Generate new sales opportunities through cold calling, warm calling, door-to-door outreach, referrals, networking, and follow-up with prospective clients.
· Act as the first point of contact for customers by providing professional, friendly, and knowledgeable communication about the company’s landscaping services.
· Meet directly with residential and/or commercial clients to understand landscaping needs, project goals, timelines, budgets, and service expectations.
· Conduct site visits as needed to gather project details, take notes, document client requests, and coordinate next steps for estimating or bidding.
· Monitor the company database, CRM, or estimate tracking system to identify incoming leads, open estimates, bid opportunities, follow-up tasks, and pending client communications.
· Coordinate with estimators, designers, managers, and operations teams to ensure accurate information is gathered before proposals or bids are prepared.
· Follow up consistently on estimates, proposals, bids, and inactive leads to help convert opportunities into booked work.
· Maintain accurate records of calls, client meetings, customer preferences, project details, follow-up dates, proposal status, and sales activity.
· Represent the company professionally in all customer-facing situations, including phone calls, emails, site visits, door-to-door interactions, and client meetings.
· Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers to encourage repeat business, referrals, renewals, and additional service opportunities.
· Communicate customer questions, concerns, changes, or special requests to the appropriate internal team members in a timely manner.
· Stay informed about company services, pricing guidelines, seasonal offerings, and basic landscaping terminology to confidently discuss solutions with clients.
Qualifications
· Previous sales, customer service, landscaping, construction, property maintenance, or related field experience preferred.
· Comfortable making cold calls, warm calls, and door-to-door introductions.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain services clearly and professionally.
· Confident meeting directly with clients and representing the company in the field.
· Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to track leads, estimates, bids, and follow-up activity.
· Ability to use or learn CRM systems, databases, spreadsheets, email, and basic office technology.
· Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to manage daily outreach and follow-up responsibilities independently.
· Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license may be required for client meetings, site visits, and door-to-door outreach.
· Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong commitment to customer service.
Preferred Skills
· Knowledge of landscaping, lawn care, hardscaping, seasonal cleanups, planting, irrigation, snow services, or property maintenance.
· Experience preparing, reviewing, or following up on estimates, proposals, or bids.
· Ability to identify customer needs and recommend appropriate services or next steps.
· Experience working with residential homeowners, commercial property managers, contractors, or business clients.
· Strong follow-through and ability to maintain consistent communication throughout the sales process.
Work Environment
This position includes both office-based and field-based work. The Salesperson may spend time making calls, updating the database, scheduling appointments, attending client meetings, visiting properties, conducting door-to-door outreach, and coordinating with internal team members. Seasonal demand and weather conditions may affect daily priorities and scheduling.
Compensation
Compensation includes base salary up to $50,000 plus commission (based on experience) and bonuses. Specific compensation details will be confirmed during the hiring process.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
