Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Tax & Advisory Manager who can independently prepare and review tax returns, meet directly with clients, handle tax resolution matters, and serve as a trusted advisor.

This position requires both strong technical tax expertise and a commitment to collaboration, delegation, and team development. The successful candidate will recognize that long-term success is achieved not only through personal productivity but also through helping others grow and contribute.

This is a leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring staff, improving processes, developing client relationships, and helping a growing firm continue to scale.

The ideal candidate will eventually become one of the primary faces of the firm and a trusted resource for both clients and team members.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Preparation & Review

· Prepare individual income tax returns (Form 1040)

· Prepare business tax returns, including Forms 1120S, 1065, and related state filings

· Review tax returns prepared by junior team members

· Research tax issues and develop practical solutions

· Identify tax planning opportunities for clients

· Maintain high standards of technical accuracy and client service

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

· Meet directly with clients regarding tax planning, consulting, and business matters

· Conduct paid tax consultations and planning meetings

· Build and maintain strong client relationships

· Serve as a trusted advisor to business owners and individuals

· Communicate proactively with clients throughout the year

· Help clients make informed decisions that improve profitability and reduce stress

· Assist with advisory and fractional CFO engagements when appropriate

· Potentially manage a portfolio of recurring advisory and retainer clients

Tax Resolution & Representation

· Handle IRS and state tax notices and correspondence

· Manage tax resolution matters, including installment agreements, penalty abatements, and other representation work

· Research and resolve complex tax issues on behalf of clients

Team Leadership & Development

· Delegate work appropriately to junior staff members

· Train, mentor, and develop less experienced team members

· Review staff work while providing constructive feedback

· Help improve department workflows and processes

· Collaborate closely with firm leadership and administrative staff

· Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture

· Help build the overall capacity of the tax department

Qualifications

Required:

· EA or CPA license

· Minimum 5 years of public accounting or tax practice experience

· Strong knowledge of individual and business taxation

· Ability to prepare tax returns independently with minimal review

· Excellent communication and client service skills

· Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities

· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities

Preferred

· Experience reviewing tax returns prepared by others

· Experience mentoring or supervising staff

· Experience handling IRS and state tax notices

· Experience with tax resolution matters and taxpayer representation

· Experience managing client relationships independently
