Ours is a new way of providing the best “back office” business services, founded on a groundbreaking model that truly helps employers who are struggling with the costs and time-consuming operational tasks that come with running and managing a team of employees. We saw how we could deliver an innovative and comprehensive human resource service to reduce the risk and vicarious liabilities common for business owners.

The Opportunity:

We're looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to partner closely with our Controller in leading the day-to-day operations of the Accounting department. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical accounting expertise with team development, financial reporting, process improvement, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and delivering accurate financial information that supports business decisions. You'll play a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, audit coordination, compliance, internal controls, and the continued optimization of our accounting systems.

Essential Functions:

Financial Reporting & Accounting Operations

Partner with the Controller to lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Review journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and supporting schedules.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain the general ledger in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Support the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting requirements.

Team Leadership

Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop members of the Accounting team.
Review staff work and provide ongoing feedback and support.
Prioritize workloads, monitor deadlines, and ensure quality and consistency.
Cross-train team members to strengthen operational flexibility.
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous learning environment.

Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls

Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
Support regulatory filings, including Sales & Use Tax, Department of Commerce reports, 1099s, and other required filings.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and documented procedures.
Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Systems & Process Improvement

Support the ongoing optimization of Workday Financials and other accounting systems.
Participate in system implementations, upgrades, testing, and process improvements.
Identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve reporting, and increase efficiency.
Develop and maintain standardized accounting procedures and best practices.

Department Leadership

Serve as a trusted backup to the Controller for day-to-day department leadership.
Partner with leaders across Accounting, Payroll, HR, Operations, and IT to support organizational goals.
Contribute to strategic initiatives, including acquisitions, system implementations, and special projects.
Build strong cross-functional relationships while providing exceptional internal customer service.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
ERP experience required; Workday Financials experience strongly preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Education and Preferred Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
CPA or progress toward certification preferred.

Experience

7+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, or a combination of both.
Previous experience leading or supervising an accounting team preferred.
Experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, or similar leadership role preferred.
Experience with financial statement preparation, month-end close, and external audits.
Experience in a high-volume, multi-entity, or complex business environment preferred.
Multi-state accounting experience preferred.

Compensation will be based on experience and education, eligible of a discretionary bonus of 5% of annual salary,
