Fleet Manager Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable Fleet Services Manager to lead our internal vehicle repair and maintenance operation while overseeing a substantial fleet of company-owned vehicles and equipment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership abilities, strong mechanical knowledge, outstanding customer service skills, and experience directing shop operations, staff, and financial performance.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of experience working as a mechanic servicing vehicles and equipment.
Minimum of 2 years supervising a team of mechanics.
Background managing the day-to-day functions of a repair and maintenance facility.
Demonstrated experience overseeing a large fleet of vehicles and equipment.
Experience with budget oversight and profit-and-loss management.
Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Valid Colorado driver's license.
High school diploma or GED required.
ASE Certification preferred.
Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations, or the ability to rapidly learn and implement them.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily repair and preventive maintenance operations, assigning priorities based on business requirements.
Ensure company vehicles and equipment are repaired efficiently, accurately, and within budget.
Lead, coach, and assess mechanics while promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
Partner with division managers to organize maintenance programs that support operational objectives.
Hire, train, develop, and supervise shop employees.
Manage vehicle registrations, titles, emissions testing, GPS units, fuel cards, toll passes, and fleet identification.
Keep maintenance and inspection documentation accurate and up to date.
Generate monthly shop billing for internal departments.
Monitor and maintain DOT compliance for the fleet.
Prepare and manage the annual shop budget, establish labor rates, and review monthly financial results.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual earnings range from $105,000-$130,000, consisting of base pay and performance-based bonus opportunities.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, on-site position based in Denver, Colorado.

The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Evening or weekend work may be necessary on occasion due to operational needs or weather conditions.
