Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist in Charge to oversee pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical pharmacy, with experience in long-term care (LTC) and critical care settings. This role requires a commitment to patient service and the ability to manage pharmacy staff effectively.

Duties

Supervise daily pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing and compounding medications.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
Conduct patient assessments and provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication management and pain management.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and outcomes.
Manage inventory effectively to ensure the availability of medications and supplies.
Oversee the training and development of pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Administer immunizations and perform IV insertion as needed.
Utilize pharmacy software, EMR systems, and EHR systems for efficient workflow management.
Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient care activities.
Provide education to patients regarding their medications, including potential side effects and proper usage.

Qualifications

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
Active pharmacist license in good standing.
Experience in LTC pharmacy, critical care, or acute care settings preferred.
Completion of a pharmacy residency is highly desirable.
Strong clinical pharmacy experience with knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and aseptic technique.
Proficiency in compounding medications and IV infusion techniques.
Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient assessment and care.
Familiarity with inventory management practices within a pharmacy setting.
Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while demonstrating leadership qualities.
