Full Job Description

Research Clerk

We are looking for a responsible Research Clerk to support inbound operations and maintain inventory accuracy. The Research Clerk is responsible for investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies while maintaining accurate warehouse records in support of Amazon operations. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment. The ideal candidate must be comfortable researching inventory issues, validating transactions, and correcting data accurately. Success in this position depends on maintaining a high level of accuracy, following established processes, and communicating effectively with warehouse operations to ensure inventory integrity and customer expectations are met.

Receiving & Inbound Operations

Collaborate with procurement staff to track and prepare for expected deliveries
Receive shipments, sign documentation, and inspect contents for accuracy and damage
Verify shipments against purchase orders and invoices
Direct and support put-away processes to ensure proper inventory placement
Contact suppliers or carriers to resolve discrepancies and coordinate returns or replacements
Ensure all receiving documentation is accurate, complete, and properly recorded

Inventory Research & Reconciliation

Research and resolve inventory discrepancies, including issue pallets, with Receiving and Shipping Leads
Investigate shortages, overages, and damaged shipments (OS&D)
Audit receiving transactions for accuracy and compliance with company procedures
Research and correct inventory allocation, stow, and location errors in systems (Sortly, Amazon, WMS)
Maintain records of recurring issues and identify trends for process improvement
Generate reports on receiving accuracy, inventory variances, and unresolved issues for leadership

Additional Duties

Perform routine and cycle inventory audits
Review and document barcode and labeling discrepancies
Update inventory records and maintain accurate master data
Provide support to Receiving and Shipping functions as needed
Assist in maintaining inventory control processes and accuracy standards

Required Qualifications

Proven experience as a Receiving Clerk, Inventory Clerk, or similar role
Working knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control practices
Experience with WMS systems; familiarity with Sortly and Amazon is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Strong attention to detail and basic math skills
Effective communication and follow-up skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment:

Employee will be exposed to an open warehouse where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
The work site is a warehouse/distribution environment.
The warehouse environment is typically in the construction phase and personal protective equipment (PPE) must always be used including hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
Safety shoes with composite toe reinforcement required.
