FULL-TIME FLOWER SHOP ASSISTANT MANAGER + DESIGNER |The Flower Company | Full-Time
Are you a talented floral designer with a natural leadership instinct, an eye for the tiniest details, and a little bit of sparkle?
The Flower Company is looking for a Full-Time Flower Shop Assistant Manager + Designer to join our growing team.
We are a retail flower shop and luxury wedding & event florist, and we are looking for someone who is both a beautiful designer and a confident leader—someone who can create gorgeous work, take care of our customers, keep the shop running smoothly, and help our team thrive.
This is an opportunity for someone who has a solid foundation in floral design and is ready to take the next step.
We want someone who can say, “I’ve got it,” and actually mean it.
Someone who notices when the cooler needs to be organized before anyone asks.
Someone who can make a beautiful bouquet, calm a customer, help a newer designer, solve a problem, and keep the day moving.
And someone who brings a little joy and sparkle while doing it.
THE ROLE
As our Assistant Manager + Designer, you will be an important part of the daily operation of The Flower Company.
You will help lead the shop, support our designers, serve our customers, and create beautiful floral work.
This position is ideal for an experienced retail florist who wants to grow into more leadership and responsibility as our business continues to grow.
You will work closely with the owner and design team to keep the shop organized, productive, creative, and welcoming.
FLORAL DESIGN
You will be responsible for creating beautiful everyday retail work while supporting our larger wedding and event business.
Your design responsibilities will include:
- Designing everyday retail arrangements and custom orders
- Creating beautiful bouquets and vase arrangements
- Designing personal flowers including bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, and other wearable flowers
- Working with a variety of floral styles and color palettes
- Conditioning and processing fresh flowers
- Maintaining high standards for freshness, mechanics, and presentation
- Assisting with wedding and event preparation
- Supporting our floral designers with larger projects and installations
- Helping execute wedding and event work as needed
- Learning and growing into more advanced wedding and event design
We are not looking for someone who needs to know everything on day one.
We are looking for someone with a strong foundation who is excited to keep learning.
There will be opportunities to grow your skills in luxury weddings, installations, large-scale designs, and more as you become part of our team.
ASSISTANT MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have real responsibility in the day-to-day operation of the shop, including:
- Opening and closing the shop
- Managing daily staff workflow
- Delegating tasks and keeping the team on track
- Helping coordinate the daily design schedule
- Training and mentoring newer designers and team members
- Helping with staff scheduling
- Assisting with flower and supply ordering
- Monitoring inventory and shop supplies
- Maintaining organization throughout the shop
- Helping ensure orders are completed accurately and on time
- Handling customer questions and concerns with professionalism and warmth
- Providing exceptional customer service
- Communicating clearly with the owner and design team
- Helping identify ways to make our systems and workflow better
- Jumping in wherever needed to keep the day running smoothly
We want someone who can lead without being bossy, delegate without losing kindness, and hold high standards while being a genuinely wonderful person to work alongside.

You will be one of the faces of The Flower Company and should feel comfortable interacting with customers in person and over the phone.
You should be:
- Warm and personable

- An excellent communicator
- Comfortable helping customers choose flowers and designs
- Able to listen carefully and understand what a customer is asking for

- Someone who genuinely enjoys making people feel taken care of
Beautiful flowers are only part of what we do. Beautiful service matters just as much.
LEADERSHIP + TEAMWORK
We are looking for a natural leader.
You don't need to walk around announcing that you're the manager. We'd rather see you naturally step up when something needs to be done.
You will help create a shop environment that is:
Creative. Organized. Kind. Productive. Fun.
We want someone who notices when a teammate needs help, isn't afraid to get their hands dirty, and understands that sometimes leadership means sweeping the floor, processing flowers, or jumping into a delivery.
No task is beneath you.
Everyone helps everyone.

- And yes… you have a little sparkle.
EXPERIENCE + GROWTH
At least 2 years of professional floral design experience is required.
We are especially interested in someone with a strong retail floral background who is ready to expand their skills and take on more responsibility.
You do not need to be an expert in luxury weddings and large-scale installations.
In fact, we would love to help you grow into that.

- Luxury weddings
- Large-scale installations

The position will primarily be based in the shop, with some weekend availability and wedding/event work required, particularly during our busy season.

- Cleaning and organizing throughout the day
