POSITION: High School Program Coordinator

STATUS: Full-time (40 hours/week)

SALARY: $52,000-56,000 based on experience

START DATE: August 1, 2026

LOCATION: Pasadena, CA

ABOUT COLLEGE ACCESS PLAN

College Access Plan (CAP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that partners with Pasadena and Hacienda La Puente School Districts and collaborates with community organizations to make college knowledge accessible and inclusive while empowering all students to pursue their postsecondary goals. We provide free programs for students in grades five through college graduation with no eligibility requirements—no GPA cutoffs, test scores, or citizenship documentation. We have developed an adaptable model that meets all students where they are and when they’re ready.

SUMMARY OF POSITION

College Access Plan (CAP) seeks a full-time High School Program Coordinator. Under the direct supervision of the High School Program Manager, this person will lead college access programming at two traditional high schools and one alternative ed high school in the Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD). Under the supervision of the High School Program Manager, the Program Coordinator will oversee after-school drop-in programs, deliver daytime college advising, and support students with every step of the college-going process—from building college lists to submitting financial aid forms. This role also includes developing and reviewing curriculum, planning workshops, maintaining student data, and collaborating with school staff and community partners.

The ideal candidate is energetic, student-centered, and committed to educational equity. They have experience supporting the college aspirations of first-generation, low-income, and other underserved students, and understand how trust and connection can expand access and belonging for those who may not otherwise see themselves in college spaces. The Program Coordinator uses a holistic and culturally responsive approach to college advising, grounded in meaningful relationships, student voice, and a strong sense of community, which drive student success and sustain the collective strength of CAP programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

DIRECT SERVICE

Facilitate CAP’s on-campus after-school and daytime programs at Pasadena Unified School District high schools;
Provide group and one-on-one college advising on topics such as college fit, applications, essays, financial aid, and career pathways;
Support students in meeting all college-related deadlines and submissions;
Create an inclusive, welcoming environment through culturally responsive practices.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Collaborate with CAP staff to develop and refine curriculum, workshops, and outreach materials;
Maintain accurate student records and advising notes using Salesforce;
Serve as CAP’s on-site liaison with school staff, administrators, and volunteers;
Ensure all student data is handled in accordance with FERPA and CAP privacy policies.

RECRUITMENT & OUTREACH

Schedule and deliver presentations in classrooms and at community events to spread awareness of CAP programs and critical college readiness checklist items;
Build and maintain relationships with district administrators, counselors, teachers, and community organizations;
Lead student outreach efforts, including personalized communication via email, text, and phone;
Coordinate outreach efforts for assigned programs, including designing informational flyers, tabling at school and community events, and promoting student success on CAP website and social media platforms;
Represent CAP at community events and local college fairs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree (required).
Ability to travel regularly to CAP’s central offices and PUSD high schools in Pasadena, CA.
Available to work 10am-6pm, with occasional evenings and weekends.
Strong desire to work directly with high school students in group and individual settings.
Foundational knowledge of A-G requirements, college application processes, financial aid, and career pathways.
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Experience with Google Suite, Mac OS, and common social media platforms.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Self-directed, critical thinker with commitment to learning.
Reliable transportation and valid auto insurance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience building meaningful relationships with underserved and historically marginalized students.
Prior experience in college access/advising or student support services.
Experience managing projects independently and collaboratively.
Proficiency with Salesforce.
Knowledge of the Altadena/Pasadena community and schools.
Fluent in a language other than English.
