Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Certified Billing and Coding Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance providers. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle operations, improve documentation accuracy, and support high-quality patient care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your coding skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence in healthcare administration.

Responsibilities

Review and interpret medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes for billing purposes
Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems while maintaining compliance with industry standards
Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through medical collections processes to optimize revenue recovery
Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to billing
Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring all documentation supports coded diagnoses and procedures
Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, insurance policies, and regulatory requirements to ensure ongoing compliance

Experience

Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting, preferably with familiarity in hospital or outpatient environments
Strong knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, CPT coding procedures, and DRG classifications
Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and billing workflows
Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and the revenue cycle process
Demonstrated ability to interpret complex medical records accurately and assign appropriate codes efficiently
Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to handle multiple claims simultaneously
Prior experience in medical collections or follow-up is a plus
