Preston Productions is a premier live events production company providing design, technical direction, rentals and sales for the live events industry.

Job Purpose

The Director of Operations oversees and directs the day-to-day operational

functions of Preston Productions LLC, ensuring efficient execution of warehouse

operations, logistics, staffing, and project fulfillment. This role partners closely with

the Sales and Production teams to ensure all live event projects are executed

accurately, on schedule, and within budget while driving operational excellence,

financial accountability, and continuous process improvement. Candidates should have direct experience in logistics, operations, production and/or warehouse management in the LIVE EVENTS industry.

Essential Functions of the Job

● Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, logistics, transportation,

inventory, and project fulfillment to ensure efficient and accurate execution

of all client projects.

● Partner closely with the Sales and Production teams to coordinate staffing,

equipment preparation, sub-rentals, and logistics for successful event

execution.

● Direct, supervise, and support warehouse staff, office personnel, drivers,

and shop assistants to ensure productivity, accountability, and operational

excellence.

● Plan, organize, and assign employee responsibilities to ensure timely and

accurate completion of projects and customer orders.

● Foster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performance work

environment while promoting employee engagement and professional

development.

● Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, scheduling,

performance management, and personnel decisions for operational staff.

● Develop, implement, and improve operational processes, procedures, and

workflows to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality.

● Oversee warehouse organization, inventory control, equipment

maintenance, and quality assurance to ensure operational readiness.

● Manage operational budgets, including logistics, trucking, labor, equipment

preparation, and sub-rental expenses, ensuring expenditures remain within

approved guidelines.

● Monitor operational financial performance and identify opportunities to

improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maximize profitability.

Oversee vendor and subcontractor relationships, negotiate pricing, and

manage purchasing decisions while maintaining quality standards.

● Ensure sub-rental vendors and shop labor meet performance expectations

and project requirements.

● Exercise sound judgment when prioritizing multiple projects, resolving

operational challenges, and making time-sensitive business decisions.

● Develop strategic operational initiatives that align with organizational goals

and support continued business growth.

● Communicate regularly with executive leadership regarding operational

performance, staffing needs, project status, financial results, and

opportunities for improvement.

● Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable

federal, state, and local laws.

Additional Duties

● Perform additional related duties as assigned.

● Assist with special projects and operational initiatives as needed.

● Support continuous improvement efforts and organizational growth.

Qualifications

● Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in live event

production, entertainment production, audiovisual staging, equipment rental,

logistics, or a related industry.

● Demonstrated experience managing warehouse operations, transportation

logistics, inventory, and complex project execution.

● Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, cost control,

vendor management, and operational forecasting.

● Experience managing sub-rental vendors and negotiating contracts and

pricing.

● Proven leadership ability with experience hiring, training, coaching,

scheduling, and developing high-performing teams.

● Excellent organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills

with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

● Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate

effectively across departments.

● Experience with event rental software such as Lasso is highly preferred.

● Ability to make sound business decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven

environment.

Work Conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

● Must be able to work indoors in both office and warehouse environments.

● Requires frequent walking throughout warehouse and production areas.

● Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.

Requires repetitive use of hands and fingers for computer work and

administrative tasks.

● Must be able to occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

● May require occasional evenings, weekends, and extended hours based on

production schedules, client events, and business needs.

● Requires occasional travel to event sites, vendor locations, and client

meetings.
