The Role

We’re looking for a Lead Excavation Technician to lead septic installation projects in the field. This isn’t an office job — it’s a hands-on role that owns outcomes for the department.

While septic experience is a plus, it is not required. Here’s what matters most:

You have meaningful excavator operating experience
You can read plans, determine grade, and adjust when field conditions change
You take pride in safe, clean, high-quality work that gets done right the first time

Every now and then, you may also be asked to support service-related excavation work, troubleshoot challenging field conditions, or assist on larger installation projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead septic installation projects in the field, including tanks, full septic systems, lift stations, and aerobic treatment systems
Operate excavators, skid steers, and related equipment safely and efficiently
Read blueprints, layouts, and site plans while verifying grade and elevations
Maintain high standards for jobsite safety, including excavation and trench safety
Communicate proactively with project coordination and dispatch teams to ensure jobs are coordinated and completed professionally and on time

Qualifications

3+ years of meaningful excavation, underground utility, sewer, plumbing, civil, or site work experience
Meaningful excavator operating experience required
Experience reading blueprints, layouts, or determining grade/elevations
Septic installation experience is a plus, but not required
Valid driver’s license required (CDL is a major plus, not required)
