Confidential Employer — Payroll Specialist
West Metro Minneapolis Area | Part-Time | Remote or Hybrid
Pay Range: $30.00–$35.99/hour

A confidential employer in the West Metro Minneapolis area is seeking a part-time Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely, and confidential payroll operations.

This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, highly trustworthy with sensitive information, comfortable working independently, and experienced with payroll systems and payroll accounting.

The employer name will be shared with candidates selected for the next step before an interview is scheduled.

Key Responsibilities

The Payroll Specialist will:

Process bi-weekly payroll using an enterprise payroll system similar to ADP

Maintain payroll controls, documentation, and compliance

Support wage and tax reporting and non-recurring payroll needs

Monitor changes in payroll and benefits regulations

Train staff on payroll system functionality

Identify payroll process and system improvements

Prepare payroll journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy

Complete quarterly and annual reconciliations

Support retirement plan reporting and employer contribution verification

Produce internal compensation and benefits reports

Assist with payroll and benefits audits

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will bring either:

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and at least 3 years of relevant payroll experience; or

At least 7 years of relevant payroll/accounting experience without a degree.

Candidates should also have:

Experience with payroll systems

Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

High confidentiality with sensitive data

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to collaborate effectively across teams

Work Environment

This is a part-time role with a remote or hybrid schedule. Some schedule adjustments or occasional overtime may be needed during payroll deadlines, audits, or other time-sensitive periods.

Compensation

The pay range is $30.00–$35.99 per hour.

This position is not benefits eligible.
